Another username I use is "mimi" which is quite close to my real name so some people that know me from forums and then meet me in real life call me mimi which my boyfriend finds totally confusing and to be honest so do I, when people call me that i'm like "huh? who? oh me!" :P

Maybe one of the ladies in here will give me some help with this: I've been seeing this girl for the past 3-4 weeks and things are going pretty well. She was on about wanting to go to Electric Picnic at the end of August, so what I wanted to know is if it's too soon to be buying presents for someone this early on?

Edit: When I said 'girl' I meant woman obviously. She's of age. Repeat, of age.

It always sickens me when people greet me as boneyarsebogman.

Is it 'cos your bum isn't boney?

'Cos we can call you squidgyarsebogman if that works for you.

    *I love the word squidge*

I'm still having trouble adjusting to that. :o You are such a Lucy!

(I like Lucys, by the way! :D )

There was an AH beers in Galway a while back and the first thing a lot of people said when they first met me was, "you're not as bony as I had imagined"

Do you mean that you want to buy her EP ticket? If so, I'd say that's a bit much at the moment.

If you mean more like "oh, I saw this book/cd/whatever and thought you might like it" I'd say that would be grand.

I've no idea how to describe my arse. There was one night out dancing and a German lady came up and told me I have a sexy arse, if that means anything? :D

Is your username a reference to The Butcher Boy?

I'd love to know the 'inspiration' behind people's usernames.

    Also, wine! :)

I don't see a problem with that. Obviously if you have the means it'd be a nice treat. If you're going and she'd love to go then I don't see why you shouldn't do it.

I was only with my boyfriend a couple of months when he bought me a ticket to Oxegen. By the time EP comes around you'll be seeing each other (hopefully) over 2 months and you don't have to tell her right away, you can wait a month or so and she'll still have plenty of time to organise herself for it.

Unfortunately I'm not as imaginative as everyone here and my name is actually Jane. :o

Also, I feel bad now but what's going on with Ivy?

I love the pixies and I love nirvana (Frances Bean) so I came up with pixiebean.

    Is your name Emily O'something?

That's an O? I swear to Christ, I always thought it was EmilyQ :/

I actually just started a separate thread in tLL about usernames as I thought it would be cool to read them all together :)

See that's interesting, mine is exactly as you guessed :o
I just wanted to get on boards, wasn't bothered trying to think of an original username.

Nope that's an O! Very innovative, so I am!

I put my i-tunes on shuffle and decided to call myself by the name of the first song that came on. It was Novella, by Funeral for a Friend. :)

Mine is easy to work out. My name is actually Jane, I'm from Laois (LS) and I was born in '88. :)

I'm off to look at coco_lola's thread because I'm curious now. :D

My first name (Purple Bobbin) I came up with because I used a purple bobbin to tie up my hair :pac:

The Lovely Muffin is because when I make buns they turn out like muffins, and they're lovely! :pac:

To be honest, if I was walking down the street/in a cafe/shop on my own or with my boyfriend I wouldn't mind if people came up to me saying they knew me from Boards etc as my bf knows my username anyway, but if I was out with others and someone came running up to me saying they recognised me from Boards, I wouldn't like it too much, because my family/friends don't know my username and I don't want them to know it.

Hell, could you imagine my mothers reaction if she found my posts about her? :pac:

I also don't want people from my home town knowing I'm a Boardsie and what my username is, as it would surely get back to my family/mother, which I obviously don't want.

I've often thought about closing this account and making a new one, and posting less details about myself, but have never actually done it.

There was one day in my old job where my then-manager approached me in front and asked me if I were boogeyarsebogman on boards.ie. This was in front of some co-workers and one or two customers. So, not only did I have to own up to the fact that it was me, but then I also had to correct her, much to the amusement of those watching.

    Yup.

Next time, I'm picking something like SexyHawtGuy or BigusDickus as a username :pac:.

I think you're going to forever be known as Squidge on this page. (Thankfully it's a short one - depending on the setting you have for posts per page...)

It's almost a pity there isn't a random username generator as part of Boards.

My username is ancient - it's 15 years old this year! (It has had previous incarnations on other sites.)

Thanks for the replies! Buying them now is probably too soon. I'll just wait and see how things pan out over the summer.

I had an account before which features my actual name in it. The OH's ex found it and it freaked me out a little so I closed it and started a new :)

A few friends knew my old account-none of them know this one. Is like my secret identity
