No, otherwise UEFA would ban all other Scottish clubs from European football.

    Oh, wait ;)

The SFA will terminate your membership before it gets to that

FURIOUS SPL chairmen want to strip Rangers of SEVEN league titles — if the crisis-hit club are found guilty of making dodgy payments to players.

Yer lucky that the SPL only goes back to 1998!

To be honest, I cannot understand why there has not been more talk of stripping Rangers of several of their titles and cup successes in this period. I'm sure something similar has happened before in Italy. It seems like natural justice to me.

I think that's simply down to the uncertainty of the situation at the moment i.e. will the new entity be punished for the wrong-doings of the old entity. A lot of that depends on how the vote goes I guess. If it's a "no", the new club head to Division 3, and talk of stripping titles will fade I'd imagine. If it's a "yes", then WW3 will break out and title stripping will be one of many punishments that will be talked about.

With respect Paulo, I don't understand how this issue is dependent on where Rangers go from here. I think it is beyond doubt that Rangers won the titles by effectively cheating - acquiring players that they shouldn't have had - and therefore should forfeit these same titles. That should happen regardless of what subsequently transpires.

Not arguing the case - just trying to explain why it's not top of the agenda! We don't even know who Club 12 will be in the SPL yet ffs!! Stripping titles is not something that needs to be done in a hurry. Sorting out this mess with the Newco is.

    MOD ABUSE
    ;)

The 'bringing players in they couldn't have afforded' argument doesn't really hold up, since from around 2003 Rangers have been downsizing big time.
Utter dross like Capucho, Emerson, Ostenstadt,... was brought in.

You said they had players they wouldn't have been able to get, that's why I said it.

Did Celtic win any trophies in the time Juninho was at the club?

We won the Scottish Cup in 2005

edit: as far as i know Juninho never got a medal, he wasn't in the squad that day anyway.

Walter and his consortium have pulled out, he did wish the new Rangers club well though...good to see he isn't claiming that the old club still exists under a new company name.

BBC Scotland has learned that Charles Green's Sevco 5088 company is not currently permitted to inherit the name 'The Rangers Football Club'.
Any attempt to adopt the name 'The Rangers Football Club' would require the approval of the liquidators, BDO.

LOL, did they really expect to be able to take that name without running into problems?

You can choose any timeframe you want and study the minutiae within that timeframe - the bottom line is that trophies were gained in extremely dubious circumstances; circumstances that gave an unfair advantage - it follows that trophies should be forfeited.
