Great post. I'm well aware of creatine and what it is and does. Sure your body makes it. I guess it's just the rep it gets. Have you used it? Found it helpful?

Sure, I went through countless containers of the stuff and realised that the money I was giving Gaspari and Controlled Labs would be better spent in Tesco on the fresh meat isles. I've never looked back.

Some supps out there are great (majority are bogus) but once the proof of their results come out, they get discontinued...a bit "too" good...if you know what I mean. :pac:
I'm taking TetradecylThioacetic Acid at the 'mo for weight loss. It's great thus you can't find the stuff anymore - I went through hell and high water trying to trace down a few bottles for safe keeping...but this is just one example...

Some other supps contained DHEA and worked unbelievable. When the pharmaceutical companies seen this working, they asked their good friends in Congress to ban it and thus it became a prescription drug - I still have loads of bottles of the stuff at home. So there are good products out there, just a case of looking through the dirt to find that gem.

Thanks guys. Yeah I reckon with regards to creatine it might be better to just concentrate on diet. What about Glutamine? I've read that people recommend it more than they would creatine?

I know its a natural occuring thing but I never know what to think about creatine. Do you use it?

No I dont use any kind of supps. My uncle got me into bodybuilding years and years ago and he drilled it into me that "real men dont need to take powders and pills" so I guess I did everything the long and hard way.

For me Im very happy with my body stats and I have been able to maintain it for all these years with a sensible diet. Im not opposed to creatine, I just dont need it for myself. I only recommended it to the OP because I see people using it and getting fast results.

Glutamine will give no muscle gains. It's good if you suffer from leaky gut.

    Supplements that work:

Whey, creatine, beta alanine, fish oil and dextrose.

Yeah I thought it was more for recovery than muscle gain though?

At 22, this will do you more good than any supps.

Get a multi vitamin and a bottle of fish oil Omega 3,6,9 - never underestimate the power of the simple things. Plenty of water, plenty of sleep and at least a gram of protein for every lbs of LBM you have.

Thanks man. I've been thinking the same with regards to the supplements. Would rather do it "natural" anyway.

Creatine and protein as well as everything else not considered an anabolic steroid is "natural". Consider the latest craze, Jack3d - a pre workout product that was all the rave. It came out there is an ingredient with a similar profile to MDMA in it. It's off the shelves. Are the millions of people that took it now "unnatural"? The whole "natural" thing is a roundabout...

Anyone that's "natural" today, won't be tomorrow....

Nobodies "natural". Always remember that. ;)

Haha yeah I know. That's why I "" the natural. Sure I know our body even makes creatine. I just meant lack of supplement way. Although I do take protein shakes.

Where I'm staying now in college, my eating is pretty much set out by the canteen as I get 7 pound a day allowance. So It's hard to get a lot of meats.

Starting Strength is a good place to begin.
    http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/Starting_Strength_Wiki

    This programme might help too.
    http://www.defrancostraining.com/articles/38-articles/60-westside-for-skinny-bastards-part1.html

Eat loads, lift heavy, and get plenty of sleep.

Hmmm maybe this should be moved to fitness forum???

Anywho, OP if your happy the way you look they **** what others think. Anytime you hear that **** tell the how you love to eat take out and drink gallons of coke and not put on a pound, sur isn't it great. : )

If you actually want to put on some weight then go for it, just make sure and not take anything that might make you sick just to put on a few pounds.

I like the look of that GOMAD plan but you'd wanna love milk!

    Good luck

Well remember it's not a sprint, it's a marathon. You're in this for the long haul so don't expect results overnight. It takes years of dedication. If there's one thing I regret was not sticking to it when I was 16. I fell off the wagon more than once and looking back now I say to myself look where I could be now had I never fallen off. Good luck.

Ingesting excessive amounts of creatine or protein, or anything for that matter, is definitely not good for you. Excessive amounts of protein, for example, will eventually lead to kidney failure. It's actually pretty common among men who take those powdered 'supplements' over long periods of time.

I just had a peek at that Strong Lifts website. :o
Is the program on show really worth a look in?

I for one think it is. I'm sure many can agree. Download his free book and have a read through it. Even at some of the success stories.

A result of taking protein supplements + a high protein diet + a few drinks at the weekend and yes, it is.

I presume you are getting all of this info from detailed studies you've done right?

It doesn't. There is no scientific evidence of whey or high protein diets causing kidney issues in a healthy resistance trained person.

Thanks man. I just downloaded it. My routine is fast and loose so I don't have anything to lose by giving it a go. I like the sound of it. No BS.

I'm doing it about 3 months now. Breaking personal records every week. I really like it.
Do as the program says, start light and increase weight each session

Just to be clear on this. Seems a lot of people are slating natty building.

Natural isnt defined by what our country says is and isnt legal.

Natural as far as we are concerned is defined as what you would eat according to nature.

As in, you'll always be able to get fresh meat and fresh eggs. But something like whey? Where does the average person go for a few scoops of that if your living in say, some African tribe.

Natural body building will work. It just takes that bit more work and effort. But it can be done. And trust me, you'll be all the happier for it in the end.

Of course, if your looking to bulk up like Phil Heath then yeh, your probably not going to get very far without some supps.

I find that I only really improved quickly in the squats and deadlift. My arms are still too weak for everything else. They've gotten bigger alright but still not improving quickly on the arm exercises.

Maybe your legs were under trained before you began, so they had more room to improve.
