Tonight I've been tucking into a bottle each of Belfast Black Stout and Wrasslers.
I have to say that the Belfast Black must be my favourite stout at the moment - it absolutely knocks the socks of Wrasslers and I used to consider Wrasslers to be one of my all-time favourites!

Had the Shipyard & Goose Island IPA's last night. Must say that both were good but I preferred the Goose Island over the shipyard by a fair extent. A bit unfair on the shipyard as I would have been quite content with it but once I tasted te Goose Island I had an instant and clear winner of those two. I must taste them against Seirra Nevada and O'Hara's at some stage both of which I really like too.

Lidl's Grafenwalder Weissbeer. Surprisingly good for a low-cost supermarket beer. Maybe tasted great as had it fridge for two days and it was the first beer I drank after commuting home on a hot evening!

For my money goose island is bested only by SV, u should try the shipyard export beer,it's better than the IPA.

Dropped into Deveney's in Dundrum. Would love to bring in a shopping trolley & just ask for one of everything!

Got a mix of stuff, while I love beer I wouldn't be any kind of expert, just like trying new stuff. A few ales for a change to try also.

Drinking a beer called Heller Bock now, had a few of this brewery's beers before in Munich. Very tasty but only noticed its 7%!

Just finished a botlle of porterhouse red, nice subtle nutty aftertaste kinda reminded me of avocado, still nothing compares to their Hop Head

Quick question, planning to get a sessionable ale for the good weather tomorrow, has anyone tried the O shea ale from Aldi, I know its made by the Carlow company and i quite like a bottle of O Hara's but is it any good

It's not as good as the other Carlow beer they used to do "Aldi Traditional Irish Ale" (God I miss that beer!) but it's certainly a nice beer.

Cheers for that Baz, its my bday today and the missus has given me an O Briens voucher but I might get some O Shea's as a session beer for the garden, think a day of SV would be a bit heavy going

    Unlucky!

On my last birthday, my mrs actually went into the off licence and spoke at length to the owner about what I like and dislike in my beers and brought home a selection!

With the weather the way it is I've decided to get a bit of a 'tang' in my ales,so over the last 2 days have had a good few bottles of
Wychwood Ginger Beard fiery ginger beer
    Badger Blandford Flyer
Crabbies (just about to pour 3rd)
    all with a ginger flavour.
    Wychwood Hobgoblin
    Skinners Cornish Knocker
    Stella Artois Cidre

    And a few ales on draught I can't recall,dearest being £1.99.
Only 2nd day of 5 day trip,so plenty more to get through. London, such cheap drinking:)

Still in the US I went back and tried New Belgium Brewing Company - Ranger IPA : Its as good as I recall it with a hint of that Belgian kinda hop taste without going overboard.

Its not a traditional US IPA in a sense that its not punchy on the hops but there is a lovely citrus bitter aftertaste.

Drinking Fuller's 1845 ale. Actually smells like fruitcake! Strange one, not sure if I actually like it or not but am somehow compelled to keep drinking it!

Haven't had that in ages, it's nice.

Just had one of the strangest (but pleasant nevertheless) beer taste experiences in a long time. Found a bottle of Whitewater Belfast Lager in the fridge. Mental note, buy one or two more to drink first for next Saturday!

Couldn't figure out the tangy taste I was getting from it. Was thinking "green salads" (no I'm not insane, really!). The wife, who doesn't drink, smelled it & thought "grass". Google did it's magic & this blog hit the nail on the head:

    http://herebebeer.blogspot.com/2008/10/whitewater-belfast-lager-mind-out-for.html?m=1

    Nettles!

Whether I decide it's a keeper or not will be decided when I try it without having drank 6.2% ale beforehand but it's certainly one of the most interesting beers I've had in a while taste-wise

Had a Sierra Nevada Kellerweis yesterday, an amazing beer for the weather we're having.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,717 ✭✭✭ciaran76

    Built my first six pack:

    Magic Hat #9
    Fort Collins Brewery Red Banshee
    Red Bricl Laughing Skull
    Cricket Hull Hopnotic
Stone Brewing Company Stone Pale Ale
    O'Dempseys Inukshuks IPA

It's too warm for me to try stouts at the moment so sticking to the lighter beers.

Same here, I got my hands on some Inis & Gunn Irish Whiskey Cask Scottish Stout, but as excited as I am about it it can wait until this spell of weather passes I think.

Meantime IPA. nice and boozy. lovely stuff.

Seemingly you can get Hitachino in Yamamori, I had their pale ale on draught in London, was nothing special. One of their beers uses sorachi ace hops, looking forward to trying that.

Had BrewDog - Mikkeller I Hardcore You last year, its pretty nice, hopefully the offy's here get it in, definitely would stockpile that.

Sorry I cannot embed these pics I took from my beer travels in Atlanta the last week.

Had Redbrick Hoplanta last night and it was a nice enough IPA. Nothing amazing but nothing awful either.
