Fully agree there, I much rather American IPAs to English ones. Though BrewDog(Scottish) make some very good ones.

I have a Dogma & Challenger in the press waiting for me, havent had a punk in a while though

I quite like both of them, had the Challenger for a second time last week, my friend doesn't like the Challenger hops so he gave it to me. I used to love punk, but haven't had it in a good while. Had Dogma a few times myself too, pretty good. I have to say though the Hardcore IPA is a great beer, I remembered enjoying it so I picked up some last night, at 9.2% it was a messy night but a very good beer.

Been breaking my back doing the garden for the last few hours so the Dogma has gone in the fridge for later, also have a bottle of King Goblin in the press which im tempted to throw in too

Dogfish head - the continually hopped India pale ale (60 min)

Another good IPA to add to the list.

This needs to be answered, I haven't been able to find any Dogfish head in Ireland at all.

Gonna be hard unless he's in about a 2 hour radius of the brewery.

Quite true, but I can always hope.

I remember searching throughout the San Jose area of California to no avail (Pliny the Elder). But every off-license and supermarket was floor-to-ceiling with every variety of Dogfish Head you could imagine. There certainly didn't seem to be any under-supply issues. Wish they'd start exporting it over here again as they certainly seem to have an abundance anywhere I've been in the US.

Looking at interviews with Sam Calagione and reading around it they have a hard time keeping up with stocking their US suppliers and pulled back alot of their exports to relieve the pressure, I heard somewhere that they have a large expansion underway so maybe that will all change soon. I remember being able to get their beers along with a few other breweries stuff quite easily about 2 years ago but I think that was due to suppliers dropping them and no new up take.

Hollands in Bray still had 2 the other day, never had the Anchor Old Foghorn before, let me know how you think. That Hardcore IPA is a really solid beer, lovely.

Had my bottle of Dogma last night, thought it was foul, tasted of bacon mixed with licquorice. almost a black beer as opposed to ale, wont be having again

    Yes.

Wrap stuff well. Bubble wrap is ideal; jumpers are great; pants will do if you're stuck; socks are better than nothing.

    Not yet

Don't feel like this deserves its own thread, then again maybe it does, but anyway...

Has anyone seen Sneck Lifter ale around Dublin anywhere? Jenning's Sneck Lifter I think it is.

    Edit: This one http://www.jenningsbrewery.co.uk/shop/product.aspx?prodID=28

I went to the BrewDog Bar in Camden today and had a Motueka after hearing all the good things about it on here, wasn't disappointed at all. It's absolutely delicious. Also tried Riptide, an imperial stout of theirs, was lovely too.

I've seen it in Redmond's but it was last year.

Yeah it's a great drop, very refreshing for an IPA, if they released it on it's own over here I think it might just be my summer IPA.

Stating the blindingly obvious, but bottles of beer add a not insignificant amount of weight to your suitcase. Best to be selective and avoid buying anything you can get at home. I'd usually pick up three or four 750 ml bottles. Never had a breakage and have been bringing home beer for years (have had to dump four bottles of beer that were gifted to me as my case was over weight). As Beernut suggested, wrap them in towels or jumpers.

Took advantage of the Tesco offer and last night had the Directors ale, which was top notch. Very London Pride'ish. Followed up with Youngs London Gold, which was murder most foul. Horrid stuff. Like a really naff Sheppard Neame beer. Avoid.

Purchase a few 4 packs of Leffe in Lidl for 4.99 a pop. No Hoegaarden left though :(

Think I'll pop to Tesco's to see if the range has improved. No Sierra Nevada, Porter House, Goose Island available the last time I was there  As well as plenty of others that are supposed to be in the range.

Come on Tesco Oranmore get your act together ...

Original Post at 16.03, now 17.44 and back from Tesco's ...

Goose Island IPA, Seirra Nevada IPA, Shipyard IPA, O'Hara's IPA & Porter House Hophead now all stocked up on
