Some gay rights & civil rights campaigners enjoy being downtrodden & spend their days seeking socially conservative views to be horrified by.
Some minorities even feel they need a national day set aside to focus on their perceived injustice.
Someone should tell them they won, it happened about 10 years ago, even Obama doesn't fear the backlash anymore, are they waiting for a final whistle or something ?.

I care more about profits for Shannon airport and investment for the Mid-West then possible concerns over what the CIA are doing and who is on those planes

All protesting would achieve is those flights and then the flights of troops go elsewhere

Yeah, better to leave them languish in an orphanage, rather than adopt them and give them the chance to live with a loving family in another country.

Semi coherent mumbling of such superb lyrics as "you can get addicted to a certain kind of sadness", coupled with a kumbayah-esque refrain as a chorus makes me loathe it. The music video symbolising the colour or *sigh* beauty draining from him after breaking up renders it pretentious for me but people seem to love it and it's played everywhere when you're out too.

I'm no authority on break up themed songs but imo it belongs in the 'Meh' category.

you do realise that most of the time the videos for songs have nothing to do with the songs themselves...? and that they're made a very long time after the song is written / recorded...? and often the singer/writer(s) have no input into the video that's made for a song..?

Agreed. But looking at the video and considering the amount of time it took to film it, I'm sure there's some meaning to it and Gotye himself would have had some input to the 'theme' of the video when spending such an amount of time making the video.

My interpretation would be that he is filled with colour and after a break up he is drained of said colour and left bare and naked. How original and pretentious. An unpopular opinion.

I get what you're saying but I don't see how it's pretentious. Silly,pointless maybe but pretentious how?
