In tesco today and the shelves were already raided of all the Goose Island IPA and Clothworthy Dobbin, went to CS desk and asked when they would be in again, he checked his little computer which told him the Dobbin was in stock, for sure, but in the back and the IPA might be, but would def be there tonight, he offered to personally get a few of each and leave them aside for me, just have to go collect them tomorrow after work.

Thank you very much nice mister Polish man. 5 Dobbin and 6 Goose Island IPA will be much appreciated.

Just got a few Goose Island from Tesco in Bray, still a few left if anyone is wondering 1.50 a bottle, 1.30 cheaper than DrinkStore.

Two ciders to try, both Westons: 2010 Vintage (8.2%) and Old Rosie Cloudy Scrumpy (7.3).

Edit: The Vintage is absolutely fantastic, Rosie is also well worth a try.

Salthouse started stocking Clothworthy Dobbin. Don't think I'll be drinking much else in there for a while!

SomeDose, the De Molen Rasputin was good. Reminded me of a mix between Brooklyn Chocolate Stout(little less choc flavour) with a slight barleywine finish(think Raging Dog's barleywine). Something I did notice was that it wasn't sitting so well in my stomach, not sure why. Possibly should have let it age for a while more...Wouldn't get it again due to that problem though.

Interesting. I really like BBCS. Would ageing it make much difference...I don't think it's bottle-conditioned is it?.

Had a bottle of Thornbridge St Petersburg Imp Stout over the weekend...somewhat underwhelmed to be honest. It had a fairly thin mouthfeel and a plummy medicinal and sugary edge that was reminiscent of a Belgian dark ale. I guess I like my imperials to be a bit fuller and richer.
For any hop heads, if you ever get the chance to try these, they were sublime

Magic Rock's Human Cannonball: IIPA, 9.2%
    Kernel's IPA

Magic Rock are making some great beers right now. I had a half of the regular Cannonball IPA recently and loved it....a nice, sharp pine-sap taste to it. It was plenty hoppy for me though, I imagine the Human Cannonball is a right hop-monster. Their Dark Arts stout is very nice too. Heard good things about Kernel's stuff as well but have yet to try any.

I don't think it is bottle-conditioned but I've definitely found that ageing it a few years improves it.

Had myself a bottle of Schneider Weisse's Aventius there the other day. Must get my hands on some more of it. Incredible sweet plum / bannana hints and very refreshing

Uncommonly good ale, the best non draught IPA I've tasted in years.

Just had a bottle of Duvel, fierce tack :) should've got more, cracking into a bottle of Staropramen now

Just had a bottle Harviestoun Schiehallion. A very nice lager indeed.
Anyone who thinks lager is pish should give it a go. A slight sweet citrus aroma, nice grainy but also slightly sweet taste. It definately has more hops than your average lager.

Punk IPA next, a great IPA.

Mad a Magic Hat in the Thomas House, tonight. Tasty stuff. Dry aftertaste, but the fruitiness makes up for it. Great stuff.

It's not great. Certainly not worth that price.

This week(end) I'm trying Double Dog - Double Pale Ale, Imperial Coffee Stout etc, lovely stuff. 8.9% min, the DPA is 11.5%. €5 per 330ml bottle. Worth it.

Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout, so good

tonight it cleared tesco is 12 goose island ipa and 5 bottled form the 5 for 10 range, when it came at 30 and some change i queried the price, expecting it to be 28 euros. (1.50 per bottle of the goose island) but the till girl couldnt find the problem.

read the reciept again when i got home.

She'd only scanned 4 of the 5 for ten bottles so i was charged full wack for the 4 of them, doesnt matter though, still saved a ton of money on the goose island!

Was in the local tonight and noticed the little dull Calledonia Smooth tap badge sitting lower than every other offering and asked about it. I was told it was a bland Kilkenny (), I asked had they sold any that evening and was told no so I just got a Guinness.

The barman brought me a little taster of it and honestly it wasn't as bad as what I expected. There was a little peep of some caramel malt and something that resembled hop flavour in there, interestingly it didn't carry a nitro head but instead had the appearence and carbonation of a headless cask ale.

I will order a pint in a pub if I see it pouring well and have no better option but why they named and branded it like a cheap English pub ale is anyones guess.

Went into Messrs for the first time in ages last night.

Their Porter is top notch, nicer than Dark Arts imo. I've found Dark Arts a bit hit and miss on draught really - was served it nitro in O'Neill's even, but the Messrs stuff was really good.

Spoke to the barman, and he told me that they make their own beers, but White Gypsy "have to help us sometimes" when they can't match demand themselves, but that they use the Messrs recipe.

He said the Bock and one other (Pale Ale?) were currently WG, but everything else was Messrs own.

The WG master brewer used to be the Messrs master brewer, according to the barman.

Had a Smithwicks pale ale yesterday and it actually wasn't bad. A bit bland compared to many pale ales but still nice.

Also had some metalman pale ale which was very nice
