Added this filly to the stable last night. Hardly an image of beauty in her present condition, but hopefully by the time I've her restored she'll be worthy of a place in this thread.

You'll need to be familiarise yourself with the old-man cycling-rules.

You'll need a caipín of course and pipe.
Then just walk up all the uphills pushing it and saluting everyone coming against you, and then sit up on the bike to freewheel down any fall of ground. (It's never "downhill", it's "with the fall of ground").

Never, under any circumstances, pedal the bike.

If you can get yourself into a Bord Fáilte ad featuring sheep on the road, or a pub with a half door (painted red), then you're well on the way. And if you do the ring of Kerry on it, I reckon that's instant "legend" status. :D

Sure that's the way I use the road bike anyway :D

Reminds me of those "go fast" art-deco pictures for some unknown reason. How does the headset work? Or rather the lack of one.

I'm hoping that the steerer cover flips up to reveal an integrated sick bag.

    Want.

This is very pretty, though I think the BMC time machine still has the edge on it looks wise, the depth of the seat tube looks more in proportion on the BMC. They nailed the front of this one though, very sleek.

You could afford the zipps and the madone but couldn't afford a decent workstand!?

    Nice job on it though.

Unfortunately not. Weekend before last myself and another Sligo man was over at the Euro Single Speed MTB Championships in France. These fat tired bikes are quite popular with the single speeders.
That particular one above was, I think, a home made frame but fitted out with Surley parts, wheels & tires and it's "interesting" paint job.

Below is another awaiting its wash behind my travelling companion.

    Whaaa??!! That looks mental!

I'd spotted the guy on it earlier but only going away from me so regrettably I'd not paid any heed until I spotted it on the rack.
There were plenty of crazy yet interesting bikes about the place though...

Ordered 26/03/2012, paid 27/04/2012, delivered 09/05/2012 and hopefully collecting from Bray tonight. If I can manage to figure out what goes where (doesn't seem like it's complcated looking at a youtube video of someone who got one before) I might even get out on it for a spin tomorrow morning, but only if it's not raining and the roads are clean! :) Assuming I have the fitness for it by next weekend I'll give it a proper test on the Mt Leinster cycle!

Very nice. What colour did you go for? Do you mind me asking had you any trouble trying to decide on a size for the Canyon? I hear a standard 58cm is a 60cm in Canyon sizing? Don't know how true this is.

    Cheers :D

Went for the black one with a bit of yellow on it (photo will follow when built!). Size-wise the calculator was giving me a pain so I just emailed the guy and said I'm 185cm (34" leg) so is 58cm gonna be grand enough and he said yeah. Try the calculator yourself it's very fancy.
