The brother brought home 3 bottles from the US last weekend. Shame he only comes home once every 3 years

How difficult is it to get in the US? Is it restricted to its homeland area?

As far as I know, pretty much, they don't ship much around.

    De Molen Rasputin

How was it? I've got a bottle of this at home since xmas and thinking of drinking it soon.

The last few weeks have seen me quaffing:

Flying Dog Raging Bitch - loving this at the moment, the spice and pepperiness from the belgian yeast works well with the IPA flavours. Perilously drinkable too.

Flying Dog Kujo Coffee stout - as per White_Wolf's comments, very nice. It's labelled as a coffee stout although I got more chocolate flavour from it. For me, it's up there with Brooklyn BCS as a fantastic yet reasonably priced imperial stout.

Rogue Dad's Little Helper black IPA (draft) - first time to try a black IPA and this would tempt me to try more of the style. Definite bitter hop IPA character but not as up front as I expect from US pale ales...the roast malt and stouty flavours were more noticeable. Lovely beer.

SummerWine Diablo (draft) - very nice pale ale, floral and citrus but not too bitter. Ideal for a summer day.

Great Divide Belgian Yeti (draft) - Imperial stout brewed with a belgian yeast...ashamed to say I can't remember much detail except that I enjoyed it!

Sierra Nevada Torpedo & Ruthless Rye (which is lovely tasting - not a typical IPA, but one i would have again)

Will be trying Rasputin tomorrow/sunday so will let you know how it turns out. Great Divide Belgian Yeti is an amazing stout, haven't been let down by any of their beers, well their limited edition beers did a little actually.

I love black IPAs too, have come across very few though. If you haven't tried Thornbridge's Raven BIPA, you need to ! Would love to find more BIPA's and barleywines in Dublin. Brewdog did a BIPA with Abstrakt 06, remember not being particularly blown away with it though.

So jealous you tried those last 3 beers on draft. I had Rogue's yellow snow IPA on tap before, was quite good.

Polished off that Brewdog Dogma, was nice.

Actually sipping on a Ruthless Rye as I type, great beer. Same SN quality, but the hops seem to have an almost vegetable quality (in a good way), nice bitter twang to it too.

Just picked up a few Little Creatures from Drinkstore. Can't wait.

Just finished one of these picked up from Martins Fairview, the guy in the shop asked had it been me asking for it so obviously your not the only one whos after it and I see why, a very nice example of how a beer can be hop forward but not over the top. Thanks for the heads up because it could well be a go to pale ale, very nice

15 quid a beer though, it's pretty steep to say the least.

I gave a bottle to my friend also and he cannot do IPA's or any Pale Ale's in general as any hoppy flavour and it turns him off but this he loved. He was very surprised as he was expecting to hand it back to me.

I found it in an off license for €9 the other day so snapped one up. I wouldn't normally get it if it was dearer than that.

Picked up this year's IPA is Dead from brewdog, really looking forward to trying a few later.
Last year's batch was really interesting!

The Motueka is probably the best beer I've ever had, Challenger didn't quite do it for me though. Definitely have to do another beer run and buy as many of these as I can carry.

Its a shame Motueka wont be part of their core range, what I'd give for that !

Picked one up last night. I missed it last year. Really looking forward to trying it.

Ken said that he only got 15 packs in so it won't be around for long!

I was in McHughs today. They seemed to have a fair few packs on display. I got it from BrewDog a few weeks back. They were all really good. I think Galaxy was my favourite.

Picked these up from McHughs today. Not sure if I'll be drinking them this evening as I took a 14 day break from beer and I've 137 to chose from :)

I got some Magic Hat in there today as well. Not tried it before.

That magic hat is like nothing Ive tasted before, a little like a good quality fabric softener in a good way

Had a good race today, so treated myself to a couple of nice FA cup beers. The Nøgne Ø pale ale was nice, refreshing, but a little anonymous. Nothing really spectacular about it. Now enjoying a SN Ruthless Rye. I'm not getting a huge Rye flavour from it (but that could be down to the bitter hops of the Nøgne), but loving the fruity IPA all the same. My kind of beer.

Its nice to be back places with a choice other that lager.

Has Porterhouse Wrasslers last week, Dark Arts last night and some Leann Follain for tonight

I could be wrong but I think I saw them for around the €15 mark.

Anyone know where I could pick up some SN Ruthless Rye, or any Rye IPA? Never tried one but I've heard good things.

  • Site Banned Posts: 1,167 ✭✭✭ASJ112

I've seen Ruthless Rye IPA in redmonds of ranelagh, Drinkstore in stoneybatter, O'Briens, and I would imagine in McHugh's. Shouldn't be tough to get your hands on some

Hollands in Bray have a good few, have had it in stock since it released this year. DrinkStore.ie have it too if Bray is to far.

Get it while you can, I am down there pretty much every day, buying it. Have to say it's definitely my go-to beer at the moment.
