I think the only way Ferguson will buy a CM this summer is as a replacement for Fletcher. And I think there is a reasonable possibility of him deciding to do that. Personally I don't have much faith in Fergie's ability to spot good CMs, but any sort of change of staff in that department brings the chance of improvement.

Looking at Berba's replacement further forward, if Sigurdsson and Kagawa really are available for cheap then they must be ahead of Gaitan in the pecking order. Sigurdsson looks the best option since he has a track record in England already, although I don't think he is as versatile as the others.

I am just glad our disappointment over transfers during the the summers are never the same as our league form down the years, cause otherwise we be in conference by this stage.

Sigurdsson has played in a midfield 2 (The Scholes role if you will), and by reports done not too bad. Dunno if he's done it for Swansea much (He definitely went there once, a few weeks ago, but bar that I don't know)

That is just speculated to be Hazard, United have issued no statement on any transfer target that I'm aware of. It could have been Joe Cole for all you know. It's all paper talk for jaysus sake, You and Rooney10 are now the arbiters of what is credible gossip and what is not, it seems!

Your pointless picking up on my post has led to this absurdity.

just like your pointless picking off rag articles off google. its not that hard to identify what is real and what is not.

Straight forward. yes. Beat Wigan Beat Everton. Straightforward. This was happening a month ago. It went tits up due to United being exposed in key positions, mainly fullback and midfield. It's notihng to do with points tally.

On the second point, apologies I didn't think there was a paper of record for official United transfer tittle tattle. Grateful if you could forward me same.

Read their where you said its straightforward if beat Wigan and Everton. Can you see where you than mentioned it has nothing to do with points tally. It has everything to with points tally. Can you now see where you mentioned points tally. it has everything to do with points tally because our key positions dont revolve around two games it revolves around 38 games.
He's right, the title was gifted to United and they bottled it. If the games had have been drawn/lost earlier in the season I'd have been happy enough to write this off as a transition season but to bottle it in such a manner is sickening.

Yeah I've heard that about him. Haven't seen him there yet myself though unfortunately.

I was talking about the versatility to move between playing centrally and out wide. He doesn't look to me like he would be suited to playing wide, whereas I've seen Gaitan and Kagawa both play there. Gaitan looking the most like a winger.

You'd swear City had lifted the trophy already. Nothing has been lost yet. I don't think City will get all three points at Newcastle.

Its aint over till its over.

Here is how I would prioritise signings personally, whether it be 1 signing or multiple new arrivals.

    1. A player to take over from Scholes, someone with great vision and great passing and can control the tempo of the game. Xabi Alonso and Cabaye would be examples, my preference would be Modric, although expensive, he is proven and would slot straight in.

    2. A defensive minded CM, somebody with a big presence, breaking down attacks and comfortable on the ball. Felliani, M'Vila and Tiote are examples, but in this case I wouldn't have a personal preference.

    3. A versatile attacking center midfielder, someone to play in a 4-2-3-1 and can play out wide in a 4-4-2. Someone very creative in the mould of Silva or Nasri. I haven't seen enough of Kagawa, Hazard or Gaitan to say they are the right player.

I wouldn't be prioritising a new striker or left back unless these positions were strenghtened.

I rate Sigurðsson highly but he doesn't fit the style of player I would like, I would liken him to Lampard, could have a big impact on games and will score goals but not best suited in the deep lying playmaker role of Scholes and I would see Rooney as been more effective in the AMC role than Gylfi.

Its just my opinion, I'm sure some would see things alot differently

While I agree it's not quite over yet and hopefully the Geordies can help us out, I can not stand this "Believe" nonsense I've seen a number of times (I don't mean to sound like I'm picking on your post).

It's perfectly reasonable to say "Believe" if it were a case that we could still take points of City but we can't. What it's really saying is :Believe... City might **** up yet" and I don't think there's any real honor or pride in such a statement at all.

Wayne Rooney's spectacular overhead kick in the Manchester derby in February 2011 has been voted as the greatest goal in the 20 seasons of the Premier League.

The England forward acrobatically volleyed home Nani's 77th-minute cross to take United eight points clear of City in the league standings en route to a record 19th English league title, and the award is the first in a series to commemorate 20 seasons of the Premier League.

Hundreds of thousands of supporters across the globe voted in the poll, with Rooney's strike gaining 26% of the total votes cast. Dennis Bergkamp's sublime turn and finish against Newcastle for Arsenal in March 2002 was the second most popular with 19%, and Thierry Henry's volley for Arsenal against Manchester United in 2000 was third on 15%.

Rooney said: "I grew up watching the Premier League so to be voted the best goal in the history of the Premier League is a great feeling.

"There's so many good goals in that shortlist, goals that I watched in my living room as a kid: Alan Shearer's goal, Paolo Di Canio's, Tony Yeboah's, David Beckham's. To be competing with them and winning is a great honour for me and something I'm very proud of. I'd like to say a big thank you to all the fans that voted for me."

Over 4.2million votes were cast by 300,000 supporters to decide the best goal, best save, best goal celebration and a fans' fantasy team. There are also six award categories being decided by a panel - best player, manager, team, season, most memorable quotes and a panel fantasy team.

The remaining award winners will be named over the next fortnight culminating in an event on May 15 where the best player and manager of the 20 seasons will be revealed.

The 20th Premier League season has featured some fantastic goals, with last night's swerving strike from Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse against Chelsea arguably the pick of the 2011-12 campaign so far, coming just days after Luis Suarez's long-range chip for Liverpool against Norwich.

    Independent UK

Don't complain about the size! It is the greatest goal in the history of the Premier League!

Was reading throught the Sol Campbell forum and people got to speaking of the best centre halfs of the premier league years. Obviously as a Utd fan I am biased but from the last 15 years I wouldn't take any other CB over Stam, Vidic and Rio, truely 3 of the greats of the past 15 years.

Just found out that Sigurdsson's middle name is Thor. Give him a hammer and he could be our new midfield enforcer. No need to buy Martinez or Tiote then :P.

Was working in a pub for the final. A load of lads came in wearing Bayern jerseys they had recently bought! Goddamn ABUs. Needless to say they had a hard time getting served when the final whistle went. Was working in the bar with a rabid Liverpool fan than night too.

    A glorious memory.

I had only just started my job at time. I was still in school.

I remember going into canteen in 85th minute and seeing Bayern 1-0 up.

So I thought that was that. Then my workmate (who now great friends with) came in about 10 minutes later to say we had won. I thought he was taking the piss, he was Blackburn fan. As a newbie I could not really go back into canteen to check again or I have been sacked.

Did not believe it till I finished work half hour later and my Dad after few pints asking me did I fancy taking day off school next day and we can go have pint and celebrate. He did not have ask me twice.

Red issue reporting that the reason cleverly is not being picked is due to a falling out with fergie.....rooney also apparently not happy with tactics last monday night. both of these are bad news if true.
