The buttons on the Galaxy Nexus are apart of the screen and the buttons on the HTC are separate capacitive buttons and nothing to do with the screen.

I would prefer at least a tactile home button, always having to wake the phone by the power button is actually annoying.

Splitting hairs here, theres no physical buttons on the front of the HTC One X, like the leaked image of the SGS III, which has a central physical Home Button

They both have physical buttons, the One X and the SGS3, capacitive buttons are no different to physical buttons, they both use real estate that could be screen.

If that's the new GS3 (above) then I'm feeling distinctly underwhelmed.

Galaxy Note or One X time perhaps...

Technically the onscreen buttons use real-estate that could be used for other things so it doesn't really matter anyway.

It does, cos when I watch a movie my "button space turns into screen", when you watch a movie, you still see your buttons.

SIRI was part of a software update, as in it came with iOS 5, not with the iPhone 4S, Samsung are releasing new hardware, not software. So it's unlikely you'll see something new like that from a software point of view.

Except it only runs on the 4S. Dirty bastards :pac:

Yes but when you're on your homescreen or doing anything else that isn't necessarily fullscreen you have slightly more space. Granted, it's not a huge difference but it's not a bad tradeoff for hardware capacitive buttons.

Its a terrible tradeoff, you are talking nonsense, physical or capacitive buttons are literally a waste of space.

And actually if you look at them side by side the Nexus " on screen " buttons use far more real estate than the " Off screen " buttons of the One X.

It actually looks like theres a black band under those " on screen" button that could have been used for.............................yes you guessed it " Buttons" HA!

Let's not ignore HTC's less than elegant implementation of the depreciated menu button....

That's not going to last. The next update is supposed to change the "App Switch" soft touch button to short tap for menu and hold for app switcher.

    But that's beside the point...

Nobody is talking about menu buttons, totally irrelevant to the discussion.

But just a quick look it still uses less space.

    Fail!

I far far prefer physical buttons, something like the original desire. Personal preference and all that. I'd be delighted if the SIII had the same button layout as the SII

I hope that these leaks are not true because I don't like what I have seen.

I hate the thought of hardware and the two capacitve buttons primarily as navigation controls. It should be the virtual buttons that they are using.

Its redicilous waste that that are introducing a menu button especially with googles design protocol going forward focusing on having the menu at the top right button. Okay there are some legacy apps that still have the menu button at the bottom but they should be looking at a virtual button for that.

There is so much I can tolerate with touchwiz but I just cannot get to like the hardware of that phone. I just hope we are surprised on Thursday!

Edit: by the way - galaxy nexus already has a barometer. I don't think it was primarily for weather reasons but to do with providing more accurate GPS positions if I recall correctly.

Will the SIII use Kies for updating? I never want that piece of s*** near my PC again

I've never used it but I hear it was awful. Surely they could develop a cloud solution by now...

I've been trying to come up with a way of expressing my opinion on the latest leaks, the best i've come up with is "hmmm"

This is why I strongly prefer on-screen buttons: customization.

    sshot.png

Have mine setup with the missing buttons put back in and some useful long-press actions. Can actually add any icons you want down there - app icons or totally custom pngs.

custom png's sound pretty cool alright :D

tbh i have seen nothing so far which i think will be like the final phone. i reckon a 4.8" alright seems confirmed.
1.5ghz quad core is stupid. never gonna happen. or at least i think it is. way too much power. either way im gonna be getting this phone

It's going to be a 1.4Ghz quad core processor. This has already been confirmed.

    http://geektech.ie/index.php/samsung-announces-1-4ghz-exynos-4-quad-to-be-used-on-galaxy-s3/

Also, there is word the US version won't have the same processor due to issues with the LTE connections. Still no word on that yet.
