Yeah, you kinda started with the big dog there, BaZmO*. I hate when people patronisingly say something is an acquired taste. But lambic... is kind of an acquired taste.
Haha good to know I started out strong. As I've said, I'd always heard people saying that the style was an acquired taste so I always put off trying them. I can safely say that I wouldn't have liked it earlier on in my craft beer drinking days. My tastebuds have definitely moved on since those early days.

+1 on the Mariage Parfait. Lovely beer, with just enough aged woody smoothness to knock the rougher edges off the sourness.
Well 2 recommendations in quick succession...... that's me sold! Although I'll stay away from the kriek version. I'm not gone on cherry flavours in beer.

Boon's on the better side of the kriek sphere, but you really need to know your brands in this territory. The vast majority of fruited "lambics" are awful syrupy messes.

Recently had a large bottle of Kriek Boon that was bottle aged for 7 years and it was gorgeous. Much of the fruitiness had taken a back seat and the more winey tastes came out more. It had also changed from a burgundy colour to a ruby mahogany.

Got me a bottle of Brew Dog's Dogma. It's really quite nice, a whole lot of flavour and more sweetness than expected, which is pretty much what I wanted, even if I didn't know it at the time...

Had a Howling Gale tonight, found it a bit bland for my liking and seriously lacking in hops, at least I have a torpedo on standby for tomorrow

Had a trial in a craft beer pub yesterday, staff are encouraged to have a beer at the end of a shift/take one home so that they can talk about them with customers. Relieved them of a bottle of Odell's 90 Shilling. Lovely stuff.

Really? I found it to be not hoppy at all, especially when compared to what the general consensus of what a "hoppy" beer would be nowadays.

Sierra Nevada Ruthless RHY IPA, as long as I can still get it, it's my go-to beer at the moment.

Hi all, new to boards. So I don't know what's gone on before now about beer. Do we have a rating system from 1. to 10. or a list of goodies and baddies? Aldi has an ale called O Shea's I think its great with food, like an earthy wine. Having a Tiger lager beer atm and I rate it 7 out of 10.

Some people rate them with a number, some people don't. :)

The O'Shea's ale is very nice and goes well when you're cooking food too, I normally bung a bottle into a pot of stew.

The O'Sheas stout is quite nice too.

Got to pop into the new Brew Dock pub on Amiens St last night. Much the same selection as Against the Grain, very friendly and helpful staff and I really hope it does well, the location might be a bit of an issue for them though. Tried the Trouble golden ale (forget the exact name) and the Galway Bay pale ale, I enjoyed then both.

Everytime im in Leeds i go to Morrisons supermarket and pick up some bottles of Furstenberg, who remembers this amazing beer from 20+ years ago in Ireland it was very popular and just seemed to vanish, is there anywhere in Dublin this beer can be purchased, probably the best beer ive ever drank.:)
