Strange way to "attach" a reg plate on that Standard 10 "Estate" ?
(Held between two handles, with a few rags behind it for support?!)
..plus it has a recess for a square plate too?

Liking the Supra ...and its reg number! :D

Love the Supra and the Ransit Carc. :)

The Escort Cab looks poxy with that front bumper cover and the rear looks like it got similar treatment. :(

Carc. musta been a bit knackered - 'beige' Supra, Escort 'saloon',standard 10 'estate' ????

The Supra coulda been an early import , some of the *ZG / ZS 's were allowed to be imported and pay the duty around 85/86. That one has US-spec marker lights added.
I had 2, 1 was black 'narrow wheel' model, then I bought Ciaran Haughey's written off 'wide wheel' later model for the wheels and other parts.

The Transit coulda been an original Ford of Cork / Billy Coleman service barge ?

I'm just very confused.. The Transit doesn't look like a 1976 MK1 to me? Maybe someone changed the whole front end from a later van, iv heard that happens quite a bit in Ford circles.

The Supra needed new window glass all round because it was all scratched in the corners of each pane strangely. A pity.

And I admire the guy who converted the Escort saloon into an XR3i convertible. That took a lot of dedication and welding.

Even the Standard 10 took immense work to convert into a saloon from an estate.

Personally I think it's good enough for the ones that make absolutley no effort to be outed, like the ones listed above are.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,318 ✭✭✭✭carchaeologist

You didn't need Cartell to spot most of those!

There was a box of about 40 or so tax books for sale at the same show ranging in price from €50 to €150. And there was plenty of enquiries about them too.
With VRT now at €200, a tax book at less than that is a good saving for the non enthusiast.

Simi car history check. Also looked at the brown log book for my own Fiesta. I check alot of reg numbers daily. You would be amazed at how many cars have incorrect details on the registration papers. All clerical errors, wrong body types, half or incorrect chassis numbers. Mostly on personal imports probably from people in revenue vrt offices not knowing one end of a car from another. My Range Rover ended up with model description "Lancia" because some moron couldnt use a mouse.

I agree with all of the above, theres loads of issues. There was a time in the not so distant past that all Datsuns were renamed Nissans collectively even if they were originally Datsun as sold here new on their brown books.
And re the Supra, can that simi check tell if there was any changes in the particulars in recent times?

I have had the same problem with that system. Incorrect details = headache and endless phonecalls to robotic phone systems and civil

[IMG][/img]DSCN5791.jpgSomething out of the ordinary, one of the cleanest Hymer's of it's year around.
It's the brother's latest project, lots of elbow grease and euros put into this baby and it shows. Good ones of these are rare as hen's teeth, I checked out one out last month that was gone beyond any hope of saving as the chassis was shot. The attention it gets when he is out is amazing, the layout is ideal as the lounge area being in the middle gives a fantastic impression of space when you step in, real tardis like. Performance and economy is reasonable as it has a five speed box and passed its doe without difficulty.I reckon this will be clocking up the kilometres this year between here and Dingle.

The Stag is owned by the garage owner the past number of years and he wont sell it.
Not running as far as I know looks as if the engine is out and looked like that 4 / 5 years ago.
