Decent academy game so far. I do not know any of the players. Who is the number 9 for Liverpool ?

Both McCarthy & Gilfi are 2 players that should defo be on our radar in the summer. Over the years we have been constantly linked to McCarthy and at one stage looked to buy him from Hamilton Ac. Obviously even though he is Irish, McCarthy will be subject to the British price tag inflation especially now that it looks like Wigan are staying up. How much do people think he would cost??? I reckon £13-16mill

Gilfi interesting target, I reckon half of premier league teams will look to sign him in the summer...read on a Swansea forum that he will cost £8mill. His wage demands shouldnt be ridiculous, so if we shift some of the deadwood for nominal fees, he should be affordable. Hopefully, he wishes to sign for us ha!

On another note, I for one think we should sell Jay Spearing, IMO don't think he has cut if for us...what price would we get for him??? £5mill optimistic

ChrisLawley77: U18s v Wolves, Stephens, McLaughlin, Regan, Rafferty, Sokolik, Aylmer, Ibe, Nacho, Mukendi, Peterson, Lussey #LFC

ChrisLawley77: U18s Subs Belford, Gainford, Quirk, Jones, Sinclair

very much the "who!?" level unless you are a real yoof watcher. Well McLaughlin is known, Nacho is one of the Latin recruits who something is expected of.

If we pay over 10m for James McCarthy i think it will be time for me to just stop watching Liverpool.

Henoc Mukendi. He looked like going to another club and had trials with a number of them. Then out of the blue was given a pro contract recently which was something of a surprise. Never really been that impressed by him.

I am not sure if we actually need McCarthy. Maybe if we got him cheap. We already have Shelvey and Henderson who can play a similar role in the team. We are crying out for a right winger and striker. They have to be the priority. It would be nice to have most of our transfer business done before the European Championship as players prices usually greatly inflate when they play in this competition.

One can only hope that if Sigurosson is to leave Germany, that the Hoffenheim manager, Markus Babbel, has some good things to say about Liverpool. Going by some of Babbel's interviews it would appear that he wants the player to remain in Germany after the loan to Swansea ends, but maybe the player wants to return to England given that he has spent most of his pro career to date in England.

Why does he need to? We'll never get a squad of players who'll fit into the first 11 and have little or no difference in quality, especially when you are asking someone to replace someone like Lucas. Spearing should definitly be kept, apart from Lucas we have no one else at the club who can play DM and I'd still be perfectly happy to see Spearing line up for us in a lot of league games to be honest.

That kid Jordon Ibe is only 16, has great potential.

Just had a look at the Hoff, they have no (working) strikers! Most goals come from midfield so they may want him back.

To weigh in on this - against Newcastle, whilst alot of our players were bítching and moaning at each other and the referee, Spearing was working his balls off.

The guys a professional and clearly loves playing for his club - he mightn't get much game time but he waits patiently and works hard for the team when given the opportunity - he mightn't have the talent or skill of some other players out there but they could take a leaf out of his book for definite.

He'll do a job for us as a squad player, for (I'd imagine) low wages, and we won't ever get much trouble out going by what I've seen so far.

    No need to sell

Yeah Hoffenheim said a few weeks ago that they definately want him back. I do not think Swansea will be able to keep him. They will probably hold out until a big transfer fee comes in.

Yeah i thought the same. I was very surprised, i thought we were about to let him go. Was it a 3 year contract? He is impressive physically but that is about it.

He'll go get the winner now.

Edit - Ha Mukendi is subbed off. Sinclair is coming on. Interesting.

Not sure on the length just remember him mentioning it on twitter at some stage recently. I think part of the reason maybe for keeping him on was just to do with the lack of strikers we have right through the levels.

    Ibe makes it 1-0.

Ibe with a header from a Lussey free kick. 1-0.

Couldn't see if it passed the line.

Agree with all this. It's one area Man U in particular have excelled at over the years; having decent squad players who are happy to play 15-20 games a season and never moan.

Yeah that is Regan. He is having a good game.

2-0 to Liverpool in the academy game at the moment

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 460 ✭✭Gerty

    Full time in the u18's.

    Liverpool 2 - 0 Wolves.

Ibe with a header from a Lussey Free kick for the 1st goal.
A nice 1 - 2 between Nacho and Lussey set up Lussey for a nice side foot finish inside the box.

A negative is that McLaughlin went off injured and had to have one of those mini-cars to take him off. Hope its not too serious. He has had a great season.

Last game of the season is next Saturday up at Newcastle.

Right, I'm out of here for the summer. Here's hoping to another cup success that the club can build on and move forward from. To those going to Wembley, a) I'm jealous as feck and b) sing your lungs out!!

    See you in July/August.

    YNWA!

    ...where have you been ?

I did an experiment to see if i would miss twitter and boards the soccer forum. The stats compiled showed increases in contentment and significant decreases in urges to choke the life out of a stranger.

Lussey looked to have a good game, i missed alot of it, didnt have time to watch.
