This is going on all day today (10th July) in the Peace Park. This was a great all ages event last year with really reasonably priced local food, story telling, face painting, art & crafts, zip wire, street theatre and performances from bands such as No Crows. And best of all it's all FREE!

Hopefully there will be a good crowd this year as it's great to see cool stuff like this happening in Sligo.

I went to the Parkfest briefly today. It was great. Well done to all involved, I'm just going through a few photos I took.

Really excellent event yesterday with lots of good music and entertainment. And the weather was great for a change! Real credit is due to the organisers who put on such a fantastic (free!) day for people.

Heard nothing but good reports about the Cairde Festival, congrats and well done to all involved!

From tomorrow week (Tues 19th) there's a rather brilliant Jazz Festival on- Sligo Jazz Project (http://www.sligojazz.ie)

There's loads of little gigs on throughout the week in the likes of Hargadons /Osta and loads of other places, as well as some brilliant evening gigs too from the likes of The Yellowjackets to Dublin City Jazz Orchestra, as well as the brilliant (13 year old!) Andreas Varady...so so much on-we're a lucky town to have something like this on our doorstep, so g'wan, get out and support it!

The event is BYOB and kicks off at 9pm.

The film Gasland will be shown a couple of times in the Trades Club from 5pm on Saturday 30th of July.

The film explores what hydraulic fracturing or 'fracking' can do to people's health and the Environment.

And it may be coming to a field near you....

A great weekend of music lies ahead in downtown Sligo with the Lunasa Festival, looking at the brochure with glee at some of the gigs (and all free!!!).

The french market is on Rockwood Parade also. Damn them and their tasty Paella/Burgers/Schnitzels.

    Rock on Sligonians.

I hear the Phoenix Players in Tubbercurry are doing a Panto this year, Bah Humbug, based on Dickens A Christmas Carol. Should be good, they don't normally do panto's but there drama is always brilliant.
So will get to two panto's this year, Phoenix & Coolera, the question is, which will I go to first.

If you're around town Friday night, The Swagman (formerly known as the Stables) will be the venue for " A Night For Neill" from 8pm
    https://www.facebook.com/events/206892619390681/

I was a friend of Neill's, and I'm struggling with how to describe this...basically, lots of wonderfully talented musicians, who are coming together to remember another wonderfully talented musician who was taken from us far too young last year. It's only €3 entry on the door, fundraising for the amazing North West Hospice, who helped care for Neill, and who do so much work for others.

There'll be a raffle on the night, and if you can't make it along, here's a link on how to donate to the hospice...

Emigrate to Oz (for a night) with Sligo Musical Society.

    The-Wizard-of-Oz-461x286.jpg

The fascinating story of a fight to the death between two women over a pair of shoes...... well that's the subplot for adults. For everyone else it'll be the fantastic costumes, special effects and dance routines that Sligo Musical Society produce every year. And of course everyone knows the songs.

Early booking advisable at www.hawkswell.com or 071 9161518.

Hey Pete M. Have you any idea why the posts for the Open Trades Club gigs were taken down?
