    Hi all,

Might be in a position to change car at the end of the year if things go very well. Would like 200bhp+ and preferably audi/bmw/merc. budget would be about 20k max. Also considering a mark vi GTI if could get a 5 door for 20k with leather at the end of the year.

Dream would be a mercedes C250 CDI sport but there appear to be almost none in ireland so would have to be UK and they only started making them in 2009 so would be very tight on budget - would it be possible to source one of these at the end of the year for 20k?

    Thanks!

You would get one of these well in budget with great spec, tax is quiet low for a 2.5/3.0 petrol too..

You could get a 330i for the extra grunt of you can find one. negligible difference in running costs.

330i or something like that? Far superior car to a Golf GTi.

Conzy got there before me, hard to beat a fanboy !! His link doesn't work though.

That car seems abit overpriced for a 2008, then again it is carzone

This C250 is just under €20,000 (£16,250) but when you count in VRT and all other expenses it would probably be another €10,000 so you'd be looking at the €30,000 mark so it could be another 2 years until the car you want fits into your budget!

Would love just about any 6 cylinder bmw! Probably should have mentioned I'm in my early 20s so would get slammed on a 3 litre bmw for insurance not to mention fuel, although I know it's not exactly a M3! If I can keep tax band at D or less I'm not really bothered.

Yeah it's unfortunate they didn't start making the C250cdi earlier.

I hate to be the one to make this thread boring but It'll probably have to be a remapped c220cdi or a remapped 320d m sport! Still good cars I guess and hopefully I could get a 2009 within budget at the end of the year. Any opinion as to which is better?

Mapped 320d or 220 cdi would be grand.

Around 200bhp and good torque, but why waste 20k on one of them if you want some power?

The likes of 06-08 Mazda 3 MPS, Megane RS, Astra OPC Focus ST, are easily available for under 10k and would eat those above diesel's for breakfast in a straight line and nearly all of them are armed with the tech like lsd, sports suspension, brakes etc.

They are mini peformance cars and with something tuning all are capable of 300bhp easy enough and in the Mazda 3 MPS's case well over 300bhp and 500nm torque.

    Focus ST for under 8k.

If you don't care about age, E46 M3's popping up for €7k all the time, plenty of pocket money for running costs left too :) And they're still not a dated design

but finding a cleean one s harder then finding an honest bone in enda kenny...

OP, go for a 530d bmw, its a good lump, remapps well and with the whole M package.... you can't complain, it has everything... if not... their are alot of lexus's goingg for next to nothing... 3.0 liters, 200+ hp... they are a big car for little money but then again... their a little too good.

Hard to look past one of them, 3litre straight 6 and 481euro tax is good value.

If I had 20k to spend on a car and I was looking for 200bhp +. Oh baby. I can't. This thread has too much potential.

it is quite likely there will be big changes to the motortax system in the budget, if your waiting till end of year anyway, id wait and see what happens in the budget first. 325ci is good choice though, nice E92 m sport would be nice...

I think there's maybe 3 or 4 of those FD2's in the country. Never heard of any being tried. Regularly here of 320 and 330 beemers being lifted though.

my neighbours 325i has been broken into countless times, but then again its only fr folks see the white cable froming from the face of the mp3 player, they don't bother even taking the car just pop the window looking for phones/ipods...

as for hondas annd such, mines in lock up for a long while due to it always getting the eyes from scumbags, namely when i go into shops or shopping centers andd i see them taking a nice oul peek inside the windows of it then asking me a million questons about it ( i.e is she b16, is she tuned etc etc )

all cars get attcked, but that civic listed has hondas best engine to date imho... so before even getting to drive it i'd have to invest in a Really good alarm/immob combo which breaks the budget, as for bmw's and the likes... theis too many around my way if 1 was to be stolen they all would...

ot: that rx8 is a lovely peiice of kit but surely the mantainace would be a little bit more then op would prefare ?
