Would that be a reason why my package is traveling so slow? Like instead of 2 days, 6 days?

    Really.. 24hour clock :p

Anyway, I'm having a problem with my computer where programs won't open.
I don't think its a hard drive problem because even the programs on the SSD won't open either. Basically, for the first hour or two everything works fine. Programs open no bother, but then for some reason whenever I click on a program to open it, it just won't open. When I click on them in the taskbar, they stay highlighted for about 20seconds and then fade away.
I can fix this with a restart, and that only takes about 15seconds, but its still really annoying. I've googled the problem, but nobody seems to have the exact same problem. Any help is appreciated.

Sounds like it's not shutting down the program properly or something interfering with it. Have a look in the task manager under processes and end any copies of the program you want to open.

    Lads

Can anyone recommend compressed air for pc cleaning?

    Am looking at this
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Star-Duster-Compressed-Flammable-400ml/dp/B000MQ7DZC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1333743663&sr=8-1

I use those all the time. its scary that its flammable, and it sometimes ejects liquid vapor, but it works anyway, no problems yet.

    lads, i need help. :o

my monitor is old 22inch VGA, i really need something little bit better for new GPU.

so i plan to go ghetto 3x24 monitor setup, but for now i want to get at least one!

So long story short: i need 1 24inch ghetto LED monitor, not something rare, so i could buy 2 more later on, or at least 1 more so i can buy middle one better quality.

    so 150-200eu is the budget!

    1 good monitor > 3 crap monitors.

I'd take the €200(x3) you'd spend on those, and get a U2711 or something. :)

I would definitely stretch another €50 to a u2412 if you plan to do that. They'll be around for a very long time (the u2410 is still on sale even though its been replaced, and has been forever) and it also has Display port so saves you getting adaptors, which cost a fair penny themselves, and you'd have to get 2 anyway.

that said, If i somehow managed to break my Catleap 27" today, another one would be on its way tomorrow. there just is no way in hell im going back to 1080p ever again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,924 ✭✭✭✭ShadowHearth

u2412 is not ips though, thats why u2410 is still so expensive and still is on sale.

well i wanted 3 monitor setup, its a little dream of mine! :D

plus its cooler for BF3 with higher field of view and i plan on playing some racing games. i finnaly got an controller for pc and after monitor upgrade i want to get g27. so 3 monitor setup better in my position.

Tea_bag, did your catleap died on you?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,979 ✭✭✭Tea_Bag

god no, im just saying that if it did, id buy another:cool: the u2412 is IPS, just a "cheaper" version than the u1210

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,181 ✭✭✭Serephucus

The 2412 uses a different IPS panel (e-IPS vs. p-IPS) but it is still an IPS monitor. I have a Dell TN monitor three feet from my 2412, and it gets blown out of the water.

I you want to go with three monitors, do yourself a favour and save up for the 2412s. If you're spending €750 on monitors though, you could go for a U3011!

(Don't you just love when I make suggestions? :P)

She knows i am getting monitors, but she knows i am on low budget. :D

still dont know if dell u2412 is a good idea. the whole idea of IPS is having more colors, wheres with that half arsed IPS in u2412 you are still lomited to 16mil colors and with worse response times.

so i guess no help with finding ghetto monitors eh? you damn rich bastords and your IPS 27 monitors!!! :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,181 ✭✭✭Serephucus

Umm... IPS gives you better colours, far better viewing angles, higher contrast ratios, better colour uniformity, and yes, slightly slower response times.

    Get the damn 2412! :P

    What about 3 no. 23" U2312HM's for €567?

You can strip the bezels easily..

    Edit: or:

    This and 3 x U3011's & enough for a nice holiday to recuperate :D

thing is lads i got space in budget only for 1 monitor now. at this stage anything will be better then my 22inch old LG with VGA! i already blew 530eu on gpu, i cant afford a set of monitors!

if i get 1 cheaper now i will be able to use it as one of the side monitors, when i get other 2. i might even get my main monitor something good and expensive, but later on.

i am still not convinced that e-ips is even worth to go in to. still crapy 60hz and still not proper IPS.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,181 ✭✭✭Serephucus

Having used both "proper" IPS and "crappy" IPS, there isn't enough in the difference to warrant the ridiculous price difference. Also, since when is 60Hz crap? Everything ever uses 60Hz.

well its too harsh to say "crap" i admit. its just when we talk about extra costs you would expect it to be really better, but on paper it is not that impresive.

so you would give your right hand and recomend me an u2412? i was wondering about 1920x1200 resolution. if i will want to go 3 screen setup i will have to get 1920x1200 and standart 1080p wont work for it? ( just for side screens? )

The 2412 is €239.95 now on Komplett.
Still haven't bought one myself, kinda been sitting on the notion of paying so much for a monitor.
Is there any new monitors coming out soon?
I might just go for the 2412 is push comes to shove.

there's always a catleap for €277. its more expensive, but its in a class of its own tbh. there is no comparison between it an the 2412, let alone a 1080p TN panel.

someone on here said it best: "once you buy an expensive monitor you'll never buy cheap again"

I'll never willingly buy a TN panel again. I'll have to wait for something better than IPS comes along before I think about it. and 2560*1440p (or 1600) is a must on my list now. BF3 on ultra settings @ 1080p looks like Minecraft now.

Tea Bag, what did you upgrade from, and what have you used? I'm curious, because I might look into one of those if I can find a matte version.

What about Quake Live on r_picmip 5? :P

I'm confused regarding what you said about TN?
the 2412 isnt TN though right? or do you mean the catleap one is TN?
Have you got a link to the catleap €277 one please.

my last monitor was this and before that was a Dell branded monitor.
Glare hasn't been a problem for me at all, but if I had a big bright window behind me, it would be pretty bad I think. I'm not sure you're going to find one with matte unfortunately. if you're ever in limerick I'll gladly show you what its like.

neither are TN, it was just to point out that if you didn't want to spend this much on a screen, you'd have to go TN. there is the Dell 23" u2312hm that is a bit cheaper though.

    YAMAKASI-CATLEAP-Q270 is even cheaper now!! ~€266! :(
