Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Nice one Geezer and Bitemybanger, thats the one alright.

Creepy place, and judging by the state of the building, I doubt it will be standing for much longer.

I think this is all that's left of the original building, but there is a road named after where it once stood :-)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 345 ✭✭hmboards

... and the Beatles released an album with the same name as the road which was named after the site. I have to admit it is a tough one :D

    Abbey Road, Navan?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 345 ✭✭hmboards

    Sort of :)

It's what remains of Navan Abbey. The Abbey was located on the banks of the Blackwater, near where the long-term car park now sits. It later became a military barracks.

These stones can now be found in the grounds of St. Mary's church in Navan, on your right hand side as you go through the barrier from the Fair Green. Behind the black railings.

Not sure of the name so a general location will have to do.

Have a bit of family history there myself.

WW1 veterans used to come back there to rest, imagine that. Apparenly there were dozens of tents errected and all.

Gone to utter ruin now, very sad.
