Hitmen earn a lot more than the wage the OP mentioned, but I suppose there's a lot of competition out there these days.

the role I interviewed for was 40gbp per hour I think. it was a contract, hence high wages

I've never been offered refreshments in an interview, what did you get? They should really give you a beer, would relax everyone and you'd probably be more honest too.

any company worth their salt would give candidates a mineral to easy the nerves and make for a more relaxed atmosphere.

its no coincidence that most of the major jobs I have had I remember having mineral drinks offered.

    Boo-hoo to be honest.

It'd be nice if they did but turning down a job because you didn't get a "mineral" is not going to get you any sympathy around these parts.

hmm, I did 3 interviews in England recently, appalled with the feedback (or lack of), no refreshments offered despite driving at least 2 hours, nothing on expenses.

    alltogether just not very friendly.

I did one this morning in brum land, 9am the cross eyed guy wanted to see me (didnt know was he looking at me or the roof...), after an hour he said I was not qualified enough for contract work which is fine but it would be been possible im sure for him to suss that out by my cv without me getting up at 4,30am.

in Scotland, different slice of cake, refreshments, banter, a joke, expenses paid.. and a job offer a few weeks later after some continual feedback via email.

another recruiter said JLR are awful to work with since he was there.

Him inviting you over = your CV was fine but your interview was sh*t. Recruiters are sales people, they don't waste time. But they do love keeping you sweet by making up 'positive' feedback so when the next suitable job comes they'll sell you that.

Refreshments seem like a big deal to you. What exactly are you referring to? You mean like a glass of water? That would be standard practice and just basic manners if you're settling into an hour long conversation, but anything beyond that you're having a laugh! I'm assuming when you say 'different slice of cake', you're talking metaphorically? They didn't actually bring you f***ing cake? WTF are you expecting at interview? Tea and scones? A bag of f***ing chips? Stop now!

but from three companies... and not just the refreshments, its the f**k all feedback, general ignorance and like going to interviews takes alot of effort especially in busy busy roads in England

would at least expect some feedback one way or the other, its not all about the erm, ballygowan..

I'm not seeing the problem with them/the job OP.

About a grand sterling per week! Do you genuinely think people here would agree it's shyte? I get the feeling you don't...

You should have done your homework in the first place.

Can I suggest a major change in attitude.

might seem a lot but try that after tax, hmrc love taxes, my last pay cheque had a nice 4 figure sum on tax alone.

i dont care one bit about money, if a company has no common courtsey..

They did see that. They gave you an opportunity to sell yourself. That's what an interview is; your sales pitch. Half the battle is showing you actually really want the job and aren't going to f***ing moap around complaining about the lack of cake. If there's 10 lads with the same experience looking for 1 job, they'll eliminate people for the most trivial of things. Things that might otherwise not even come into consideration.

for 40quid an hour it seems they DID need experience and not any jack and jill.. it was a SC job.

got absolutely no problem with that, the interview was quite well but he could have seen from analysing my background I was lacking more experience.

    Well done?

And you quite clearly care a LOT about money, just not as much as you do for refreshments.....

Anyone else think this thread has been partly started so the OP could reveal the great financial packages he's been offered?

if you got up at 4,30am in the morning and spent hours stuck in rush hour traffic in the midlands corridor for nothing you might be ticked off too.

Nah let's keep it open and speculate about what makes you tick.

So far as far as I can tell it's money and minerals.

"Mo' Money! Mo' Minerals!" - That could be your theme song! :pac:

Maybe you're just grumpy cause you're tired.

Did you have your juice today? Did the straw break off in the carton?

    That'd make me grumpy too.

    1) boards.co.uk is that way ->

    2) I'm already looking forward to your next thread - "My diamond shoes are too tight and my wallet is too small for my fifties"

Or "Unemployed and bored because of lack of interview skills, as well as my inability to prioritise what is important when judging future potential employers"

Or maybe you're grumpy because you didnt get near the job you interviewed for, in fact, they were nice enough to offer you the chance to interview for a position more on your level but you laughed them off?

I already did an interview with them, not a hope would i go back.

my opinion on the company was justified anyway after an agency was talking to me later in the day to confirm what I already pretty much sussed out from them.

lets close this, going no where..

    *gets a water

Although probably true, kind of stinks of sour grapes though! By the way, 4 figures in tax isnt that high is it? Considering your laughing off 30 quid an hour which is what, about 50 - 60 k per annum? That income would give you a 4 figure tax sum no?

    weird and ignorance = no

my interview skills are fine, not my fault if companies are plain ignorant.
