Id say the Broncos would want him out, while a great character he's going to be a major distraction for the organisation especially when they Broncos loose their first match. Honestly I don't think he'd learn anything off Manning, I don't see Curtis Painter currently running for MVP anytime soon.

Regardless Tebow needs to play, sitting on the bench won't do much for him long term.

Realistically though the only team that would use Tebow right away would be Miami. Everyone else he would just be a backup

Broncos are already actively trying to trade him, he hasn't that option. No starter who helps drag a team into the play-offs, and beats one of the best teams in the league while there, deserves to be benched.

He needed to go even if the Broncos didn't want to move him and at least now he can go to an organisation that want him and are actually behind him, rather than publically behind him.

it depends what they get for him i don't think he dragged them in i think your defense did ye have a beast d and elite blindside tackle i think thats what sold manning.
in my opinion your d was the most underrated in the league last year

i cant see tebow being a distraction seems like a very humble guy and fans are not going to call for manning to be benched.
having said that if theres demand and they can get a good deal for him go for it

Oh, I'm not a Broncos fan. just a Tebow fan.

The Broncos defence had plenty of holes, typified in that Vikings game that was won with offense. not defence. Some good young players but some old pieces like Champ Bailey too that won't be there to stabilise the ship for very long.

And there's the major problem, Phibin doesn't seem like the sort of guy who's going to implement a option offence.

Tebow is a great guy but he's a major distraction for any organisation because of the nature of the fans he brings with him. The first bad sign and they shouts will start. Hence why I feel that no organisation should take him unless they plan to start him.

Off topic but who do you support, just out of interest?

Bailey is still elite though and will probably move to FS once his CB play declines. Our defence is infinitely better with a lead as repeated passing situations play right into Miller and Doom's hands.

Regarding Draft for whoever asked, there's a number of ways we can go at 25, be it CB(Kirkpatrick if he's there), DT (Still) or WR. Could see Kendall Wright tbh, receiver depth is needed, though i'd argue that we'd be as well use our 25 to snatch Mike Wallace then. Lamichael James is very possible in the 2nd or 3rd as he has homerun ability and is potent in the backfield as a pass catcher. McGahee is running on empty and offers nothing in the passing game.

Well spiral - are you going to re-evaluate the 10%-90% split.

I said Elway was extremely raw as an executive but no one would have any of it, it seems to be playing out graphically now. The Broncos need to double down on Tebow now and Elway needs to apologise him profusely for mis-leading him at the end of last season, be it in public or private.
How raw is Elway now Syferus?

    So what's the fallout -

Denver now has made a major step forward in its re-building programme and the signing of Manning opens up another range of possibilities in relation to free agents etc.

Miami have seriously embarrassed themselves - dismissed by Manning, snubbed by Flynn - now hoping to sign Smith - mediocrity beckons again

Arizona - stuck having to give a back-up a $7milion bonus and he has zero reason to make any effort. They need Locker to come through big-time.

Titans - pretty much where they were a week ago - they still have Bud Adams which will limit their ability to do much.

49ers - potentially the biggest losers in all of this. Lost out on Manning and if Smith signs for Miami they are left with a raw second year QB who is not ready for the NFL. Will have to trade for a run-of-the-mill QB or hope draft a rookie like Weeden who can start day one. Harbaugh didn't want to give Smith more than 3 years because he wanted the flexibility of using Kaepernik - could blow up in his face bigtime now.

Can't wait to see Manning running the no-huddle in Mile High - defensive linemen and linebackers will be sucking for air the entire game. Mile High will be a fortress like back in Elway's time.

Looks like he's off to Denver. Will be funny to see spiralism backtrack over the last 10 pages of whining.

Edit: nope just reverted to pretending he didnt badmouth elway and manning for the last few days.

SF must have been toying with Smith. Pity. Manning would have won a ring there.

I give out about everything when it comes to teams i support. Things were not looking good at that stage and we had the most to lose out of the Peyton Sweepstakes. Thankfully we didn't.

Of course i badmouthed them, i was just wrong and i've never been happier to admit it.

SF claimed that Smith wouldn't sign the contract - now it turns out he was never given the contract to sign, just told the numbers involved. Hardly surprising that Smith is p*ssed - even if Smith does come back he knows that Harbaugh is just waiting to yank him in favour of Kaepernik. Harbaugh has seriously shot himself in the foot on this one.

Whoa there Jolly red giant, denver have officially rebuilt. Manning has a few years left at the top. After that its back to having a regular shmoe behind center. No excuses now.

Never really thought SF were in this tbh, it stunk of Harbaugh and Condon pulling strokes. Smith wasnt impressed though, he fired Condon over it.

Kaepernik could be a good player but hes got a lot of pressure on him now not as bad as smith has had but he seems like there only option and it could go belly up

No worries, the sustained success and utter joy at watching one of the greatest players ever play for us should cancel that out. I can't say i'd be too disappointed to eat crow if we win a superbowl!

Seriously though, even the fact of who it is has me overwhelmed. Peyton ****ing Manning and he's playing for us, it's a privilege! I was only a young lad when Elway was playing for us and didn't get into this sport until 4 or 5 years ago so Manning is going to be far and away the best QB i've watched play for us, i cannot wait.

I don't think either are big issues.

Manning mightn't be happiest playing the Colts but I highly doubt it entered his decision making. If it did then that would be completely ridiculous, this is a team that dumped him and almost his entire team only two weeks ago.

The 49ers presented a huge opportunity for multiple rings, familial bonds and all that, but the prospect of the Giants maybe meeting a Manning manned (ho ho) NFC team in the post-season has been played up way too far.

Both the 49ers and the Titans could make runs without much work to the roster; it's hard to say the same about the Broncos.

    No it's hasn't.

It's one of the major reasons why Eli didn't go to the Chargers. It's well known that it's the Manning family dream for the two to play against each other in a Super Bowl.

The Broncos aren't far away at all. Few teams really are in the NFL. The Lions were the worst team in League history in 2008 and are now a playoff team within 3 years. The Broncos have a good solid roster to build around.

It's never a foregone conclusion in the NFL. People go on about San Fran. Don't get me wrong, excellent team and all but every year the same is said about teams who lose out in the playoffs that they're really close only for them to burn out the next year. Just look at how much the playoffs change year to year. The NFL is so so competitive.

Manning ultimately went to the place where he felt most comfortable-in terms of where he had control of the O, had a great organisation structure and remained in the AFC.

Im the worst for giving out but i'd never ditch on this team so don't question my loyalty! God knows McDaniels put us through the **** a few years ago, still not over my distrust of the front office cause of that...maybe now though.

49ers fan here, not hugely disappointed by this decision, little surprised but not disappointed.

I think the money being talked about would be too much for Sf to pay, and if Manning had wanted to play for Sf he would have had to take less than Denver and Tennessee were offering.

Fair play to Manning for making his decision quickly. Word is that Alex smith would prefer to stay in SF than move to Miami and was willing to see how it all played out before making a decision. Based on that I expect SF to make an improved offer to Smith but to still sign him to a 3 year contract.

No doubt the relationship between Harbaugh and Smith has taken a setback but they are both professionals and will get over it.

Come what may, with or without smith there is no way SF are drafting a QB in the first round, that was never going to happen.

Looking forward to the season now, Alex will have some good weapons and despite the tough schedule I think a run deep in the play-offs is a definite possibility.

as for the Broncos, good signing and I hope it works out but I don't think they are automatic contenders based on the manning signing but it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Oh and assuming Smith returns to Sf, the Dolphins will have tried and failed to get 1. Harbaugh, 2. Fisher, 3. Manning, 4. Flynn, 5. Smith.

Pointless attention I mean. The reason he straight up rejected the Jets when this all began.

My major point is that personal loyalty to a place won't override the organisation he thinks will win.

Tenn source tells me Titans felt Manning turned off by circus potential there ... Source in SF says SB-or-bust feel would have bugged PM.

Elway is loved in Denver but he has not really enhanced it since taking over as GM I think. Firstly he wasn't backing Tebow, then he gets behind him and says he will be the starter going into TC and now they sign Manning. If they don't make the playoffs next season its not going to go down well with the fans.

As far as Manning is concerned, he is coming off a very serious injury and you just don't know for sure if a guy will recover fully from something like that. If he goes down early in the season Elway is going to have an awful lot of explaining to do.

Great news. A surprise to me thjat he diod not go to San Francisco after they came in for him, but delighted he chose Denver.

I will actually be sorry to see Tebow go, he helped provide the most fun watching the Broncos in many a year - and was/is a bit of a throwback. I'd love to see him get a chance to develop and start somewhere in the league. He'll make plenty of mistakes, and it frequently was not pretty, but some of the highlights were amazing. Pity there is absolutely no trade value for him around the league. The second team to get him also has more chance of convincing him to change position IMO.

Here's to 3 good years with Manning - sure i'm concerned about the surgeries, but it's the NFL, and plenty of starting QB's are lost to injury every year - Manning's greatest asset when it comes to protecting him is his ability to read defences and a quick release.
