Why do you think that? He owns 85% of Rangers, no law states he has to sell the club. He can appoint a director to take over from him.

He cant run the club by proxy

Who is Alex Thomson from Channel 4, and what's this I hear about some reporting he's involved with regarding the Scottish game?

He's not, he writes a blog and had a few articles about the Rangers situation, thats it really.

He's a C4 newsreader who is currently working on an in depth "special" for C4 news on the situation regarding Rangers, and the ramifications as a whole for Scottish Football.

It's quite interesting actually as he is outwith the Scots/Irish media frenzy, and someone who tends to report on social issues etc rather than sporting ones.

Obviously, as with anything that involves Rangers/Celtic his investigative work may be slightly muddied by the ravenous laptop owning letter writers from both sides - but given his background i trust him to get through that and offer us a fair & balanced opinion containing things i really don't want to read, but also things that i understand and respect.

I was talking about him in regards to the Scottish Game. He's a blow in.

I bet he comes up with nothing that we dont know already.

    EDIT
The administrators of Rangers FC have launched a legal bid which could allow the club to escape from the £24.4m finance deal with Ticketus.

If the administrators court action is successful, Ticketus would become an unsecured creditor - along with HMRC - rather than a stakeholder of Rangers, which would leave their investment in jeopardy.

    More creditors on the horizon!

Well he is involved now with reporting on the scottish game so i dont know what you're getting at and as for blow in? Why use such a term?

As for what we know already, it's a big difference us as celtic fans suspecting things and a major news outlet like Ch4 bringing it to a wide audience.

I'm just giving my opinion of him and his contribution to Scottish Football. I dunno why you are splitting hairs over this.

Plenty of bigger news outlets covering the situation very well. Remember the CH4 documentary on buying football clubs? 1 year investigation resulted in bryan robson talking about loopholes in football rules, tame stuff.

I'm not splitting hairs or looking for an argument but why mention a contribution to Scottish football?? and on what that basis is that to form an opinion? You call him a blow in yet you're from Tipperary, bit ironic, no? He's a well respected journalist with no axe to grind who sees a story and is going after it, without any preconceived prejudices. I certainly trust Channel 4 much more so than many of the more traditional news media

You're very touchy about the use of the term "blow in". Did I offend you or something?

Christ the amount of times the word 'offended' is used on here:rolleyes: Nope you didnt, it was just a sly dig, nothing sinister meant. Anyway we'll see waht Thompson comes up with

Its clear that you took exception to something, otherwise you wouldnt have keep banging on about it. Looks like its any negative comments towards Thomson because somehow CH4 and their employees are more trusting than anyone else reporting on Scottish Football. If its anything like his previous investigative work in football, its not going to be much.

"Rule 2: Each member shall procure that its officials, its Team Staff and its players act in accordance with Rule 1.

"Rule 14 (g): Full membership or associate membership may be suspended or terminated, or a fine may be issued, in any of the following circumstances:- (g) where a full member or an associate member suffers or is subject to an insolvency event.

"Rule 66: No recognised football body, club, official, Team Official or other member of Team Staff, player, referee, or other person under the jurisdiction of the Scottish FA shall bring the game into disrepute.

"Rule 71: A recognised football body, club, official, Team Official, other member of Team Staff, player or other person under the jurisdiction of the Scottish FA shall, at all times, act in the best interests of Association Football and shall not act in any manner which is improper."

Didnt take exception to anything, just thought you were wrong to dismiss Thompson in the flippant manner you did and not acknowledge his reporting thus far. And if you want to judge Channel 4 on the basis of one poor investigation and ignore their years of excellent work then off you go.

Did you see any of Thompson's reports to date on the situation?

Anyway i have no intention of getting into a tit for tat pedantic row with you. You seem to take every opposing viewpoint rather personally.Hail Hail!

According to various on twitter a UEFA compliance officer is due in Scotland next week to meet with the SFA over allegations made against Rangers over improper registration of players.

    The potential buyers:

Seems to be that Murray's "Blue Knights" are the only option there in reality. Ticketus would be involved - I guess their take on it is that it's better to be involved and negotiate some return on their £24m than end up with nothing.

I presume if Murray and co. buy Rangers and take it out of administration, all monies owed become payable in full again - the £9m (or whatever it is) to HMRC, the potential £49m, and whatever Ticketus agree to. Is that how it works?

Hopefully the SFA/SPL do their jobs this time and fully vet any new buyers.

Seems they were just rumours, UEFA have said there is no compliance officer due to meet the SFA

Depends if a CVA is agreed, then there's a possiblity that agreements will be made with HMRC etc. to pay off the debt at a reduced price, 50p on the pound for example (or lower).

You might need to use some software to get a UK IP address I think, not all UK stations are available abroad.

Seems like the Ticketus deal remaining in place hasn't scared of potential investors.

Club 9 Sports have said they're still interested, and a bid from Singapore has been made as well.

Obviously doesnt scare the Blue Knights but is there any profile on this Singapore group?

IMO, your best offer, by far, is with Brian Kennedy even if he wants his offer to be the last chance saloon.

I tend to agree that Kennedy seems to be the best option.

This is the only thing said about interest from Singapore:
and an unidentified British consortium have now been joined by the Singapore group believed to be fronted by Glasgow-based businessman Shazad Bakhsh.

Shazad Bakhsh is the owner of Phantom Scotland.

Not sure he has the cash needed.
