Because male serial killers are rare, women serial killers are even rarer.

    Kind of sexist ain't it?

Yup ... in that the men who make the kind of movies you're referring to and the men who like to watch them don't believe that women are capable of the same kind of violence as the men that are portrayed in them ... sexist pigs. :D

I don't know that murderers accounting for the vast majority of murderers really has that much to do with murderers in films being male. I mean yes it's probably partially like that because it's true to life, but the 'hero' in a film is typically male also. I think it's like this because it's more attractive to see in a film. women are emotional, care-givers in roles and so i don't think film makers find it easy to mess with that and succeed in making a good film.

...Because they kept their women chained to the kitchen sink, bare foot and pregnant - so they couldn't do similar? :D

...O' wait, you mean all men in general - not just the men in the said films?

Dunno, I'll ask the wife. She's busy painting the walls here.

Women do kill quite a lot. They kill mens ambitions, happiness, self respect and financial well being. :D

    Have you been married long?

Because they'd be boring to watch. Can you imagine instead of Patrick Bateman, there was a Patricia Bateman?

Imagine if a woman said this:

My name is Patricia Bateman. I'm 27 years old. I believe in taking care of myself and a balanced diet and rigorous exercise routine. In the morning if my face is a little puffy I'll put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches. I can do 1000 now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

I'd be clawing my eyes with boredom whereas when Christian Bale says it sounds

No I haven't but I've seen the ratings for it. One to avoid from what I've heard. Even if Mila Kunis was in it

Except for many of the horror films already mentioned, women are mostly the heros in them.

yes obviously those being the exceptions. out of the thousands of films made.

Not really the exceptions, there are several horror films where the hero is a female.

I agree with earlier posts which said that statistics are pretty clear on this matter... It is not sexist to say that the majority of murders are committed by men because it is a fact. It is a known fact that the majority of serial killers were and are male. You can blame biology for that if you like!

women dont murder. They just torture men for years , taking all their money, depriving them of sex and making them listen to utter drivel until eventually they die, they call this 'marraige'

just because there are several doesn't mean they're not exceptions though.

In terms of murderous fuel, oestrogen isn't great.

lol, the person who is considered the earliest recorder serial killer was...a woman.

Sexist ****ing attitudes in this thread...if a chick wants to kill you she can.

    What is this, 19****ing50?:D

I'm sure dated sensibilities will keep you alive longer in a horror movie scenario.

I'd say it is the rule rather than the exception.

    No, heroes.

There only needs to be two female Hero's, Sarah Conor and Ripley.

They got more done in a few movies than any male hero tbh.

True, the horror genre has a disproportionate number of heroines compared to other genres.

Almost every slasher film (eg Halloween, Friday the 13th) features a "final girl" who survives and defeats the monster, with all or most of the male characters killed off.
One of the standard explanations for the appeal of the subgenre is that it puts men in a feminised position, relating to the perspective of the active, capable heroine, thus giving the film a transgressive appeal.
Note also how many killers in slasher films are men with sexual issues like a fixation with their mother or arrested sexual development.
So, arguably, the horror in slasher films comes from showing masculinity in a perverted or powerless position.

Even going back to the Hollywood classics of the 1930s, the conventional male leads are usually boring and completely ineffectual against the monsters, with the female characters much more interesting and complex, flitting over the line between good and evil at will, and being damn sexy to boot.

Most of the murdered are men too. It's them I feel sorry for.

Male hero's in movies are normally retards who can't get a thing done without an entire team of people to help them anyway.
