So there and empty house next to ous that has never been lived in and the oil tank is full.

What I want to you is you consider it stealing by tanking oil from that tank.
I seen a neighbour do it one night.

Urinate in the tank, just in case.

Stealing, or as it is also known 'taking something which doesn't belong to you'

    Not much to consider really.

    Go figure.

Saw my neighbour kill the other neighbour's cat once....

    *cough*

OP are you seriously asking if taking something that belongs to someone else, eithout the owners permission, is stealing?
    Isn't the answer self evident?

    The tank didn't fill itself.
Someone put it in there for a reason.
Yes, it is most certainly stealing.

Purely for the sake of argument I'll say no.

If you take something that doesn't belong to you it's stealing the fact that nobody lives in the house is irrelevant.

This is a prime candidate for those anti-piracy ads on DvD's.

    You wouldn't steal a car
    You wouldn't steal a handbag

You wouldn't steal the oil from the tank of an uninhabited house.

The house has been up for sale for more than 5yrs. The owner is living in England and is never seen around. There's talk of the bank taking it as he cant pay them back. Was talking to the local auctioneer that is selling the house.

Unless they are borrowing it and intend to replace it it's stealing. The reason the owners have the oil is to keep the house from getting damp.

If it's semi detached, you should knock the dividing wall down. You'll have double the space you have now!

If the house has never been lived in who filled the fuel tank and why?

    I was wondering that myself

I heard that the oil is made in a sweatshop in China and the only people who make money from it are the bleeedin' bankers. And Joseph Koney.

It would be wrong not to steal it OP.

Well personally i don't steal from the average Joe.......... however i do have a rule for these types of things! i think it acceptable to take from banks, the government and insurance companies because the simple fact is these institutions steal from me and everybody else on a daily basis...... my eyes are open so to speak!

Petrol goes off over time. Diesel technically doesn't but if there's any air in the tank you'll get bacteria growing inside it and if you're syphoning off the fuel you'll suck up that too. Could well fcuk up your bolier!

    Karma. ;)

EDIT: Yes, of course it's fcukin' stealing!

Keep in mind that if the oil has been sitting there that long, it not be in the best of shape, and thus harm your boiler.

So steal away, and let karma rape ya sideways!

If no one has lived there for a long time then take it if you're in a tight spot, maybe put a thank you note or an iou on the tank.

It's still not theirs to take so it's stealing.

Actually I'm pretty sure it'd be 'taking something that belongs to someone else'.

you can put cash into the oil tank-coins only

    that's acceptable

It is the same really, if it it belongs to someone else then it doesn't belong to you.

The lights might not come on but the boilers might at night for some reason?
