Went up to Cavan Saturday (to odd.ie) and spotted two rare daily drivers along the way (sry no pics) -

    89-D Jetta on the M3
    87 D Red 5door Micra parked outside a house on the N3
(with original white plastic plates) ...and 'L' sign.

looks like DC's TR anybody ask him if its still in his garage! :D

Looks like Golf lifted onto front of transporter, could seriously damage TR and (3.0S?) Capri if it moved

Saw ZV (Ace ) plated 1960(?) cream 300SL on transporter today on Merrion St, shoulda followed it

I wouldn't be too happy if I owned either the TR or the Capri - they look like there's bare mm between them. One decent bumpy road and they'll be bouncing off each other

Looks like it's been lying up but still in relatively good nick. Where you spot that? Presume it's an XR3i Cab?

Its in Cabinteely, still insured but no tax, was in a hurry so not sure what engine it is (is there a standard one in all the convertibles?) will look at the back next time I'm passing!

I visited Malta last year and have many pics of old cars still in use there. Must post some up here...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,733 ✭✭✭✭corktina

ive visited malta twice. I found the roads Ok and although some of the Old Cars looked a bit dodgy, they were often only sun-bleached and were quite sound.

Any old buses left or are they all gone?

Drove around both islands Malta & Gozo last week and the roads are in bits. The main road (Road 1 :D) is very bad in places but the secondary roads are shockingly bad. There are some improvements happening but the recession seems to have hit hard out there. Lots of ghost developments etc

Some of the old cars are in O.K state but others are very bad. The escort in my pics was one of the worst I've seen in daily use. Very bad rust both cosmetically and structurally. It was being held together with hammerite!

Old buses are pretty much all gone now. One or two still around as tourist attractions

The place its parked looks so familiar to me, Im dying of curiosity as to its exact location. 1985 It would be an XR3i version 1.6 cvh

Was just going to say the same I was there last year and there was plenty of the old buses still floating around, cool looking but death traps id imagine.

Pity they're gone. Its all modern bendy-buses now driven at break-neck speed. Still lots of MK1 Transit mini-buses around though.
