I've just had 2 black gentlemen at my door trying to sell me religion. Now I've got nothing against religion although I'm not religious. But it bugs me that I have foreigners of any race, colour or creed calling to my home trying to save me or whatever it is they want. I didn't answer the door but I could hear them at the next door neighbours. Ireland exported Christianity, I really don't think we need it sold back to us.

I get Jehovas (sic?) now and then there is a commune of them around here somewhere.

I just say things like "sorry I am setting up my own religion, Gay Witches for Abortion, would you be interested?"

Usually sees them off fast enough
to be fair my motivation is the tax free status that setting up a religion enjoys

I find your post really confusing, whether its supposed to be sarcasm or geniunely agrieved that someone is trying to sell you religion which you feel you gave them in the first place :confused:

My main pet peeve with what you have said there is, actually anyone coming to my doorstep selling in general and not getting the hint when you say you are not interested.

    what goes around comes around

its best answer the door to jehovah's witnesses with a bag of blood strapped to your arm.

    they usually get the picture

Ireland of The Thousand welcomes alive and well in your neck of the woods then. Black gentlemen indeed.

We welcome people to the country, but why the fook would we welcome someone trying to sell us something we don't want into the house?

My TV is always trying to sell me Cillit Bang. The man is really shouty and he keeps shouting "bang!".

Some neighbours of mine, otherwise lovely people, from Nigeria do the same thing. In many African countries but particularly Nigeria religion is big business, with millionaire preachers in every city.

It hasn't quite sunk in that the population in Ireland are either too well educated/wealthy or too invested in Catholicism for that to work here, but they're still trying to set up shop. There used to be a man from the same area who'd stand on a soap box in Shop Street in Galway shouting religious passages - same operation.

They aren't badly off themselves either, I was handed a plush 150 page full colour magazine style booklet about their scheme. Costs a few bucks to mass produce them yokes.

So you would give someone the time of day to listen to something that you think is nonsense as long as they're Irish?

You have turned the tables and tried to sell them sex. Let's see how committed they are, and how much of an angry kitten you are ;)

What if they were Irish? Would you be equally as annoyed?

I don't want anything sold to me on my doorstep. I find it arrogant of people coming to a country, any country and trying to persuade people to join their religion. I would be annoyed if an Irish person tried to sell me religion. Why are you making the assumption that by mentioning the fact that they are black makes me biased? Jesus you're a bit presumptuous.

They are not trying to sell you something unless you are engaged in a transaction where they get some form of payment from you.

I get annoyed with the travellers who keep coming around trying to sell carpet

Are you directing that at me? Because I made no assumptions.

Yes, and who is paying for the expensive looking suits and overcoats they are wearing, one wonders. One thing this country is not short of it churches.

So it is nothing to do with race, colour or creed but because they were foreigners? Your statement is really strange.

I am confused as to what your problem is. Is it that you don't like people trying to "sell you religion" (whatever that means), or you don't like foreigners trying to sell you religion?

Did you hand over the cash in the shop? Really?

I mean get a grip none of us like this nonsense, I can't think of a single person that I know who looks forward to getting one of those knocks at the door but it happens and we deal with it do you really need to display your bigotry for all to see because of it. That's what they believe in, they are entitled to those beliefs and if it offends you then that is your issue not theirs. All you have to do is say "I am not interested and please do not cross the boundary of my property ever again"

    That's the end of it

What a really weird rant you are on!

Why do you assume they could not have bought those nice clothes themselves? You know, with money....they you know...earned?

haha....you are cracking me up with your little rant. Keep going.

I find it arrogant of anyone to go door to door trying to convert people to their religion. I suppose it does bug me more to have a foreigner knock on my my door to do so.

You didn't qualify your statement until now by including Irish people in it. If they're nationality and their colour wasn't important then why mention it in the first place?

Why it's you and me of course. You should have demanded they remove them. Are you blonde? Because it's better if you are, but not essential. YouPorn users aren't fussy.

Bigotry? Did you get out of bed on the self righteous twaddle side of the bed this morning? I'm expressing an opinion, I have that right and not wanting religion brought to my home by a stranger or anyone else for that matter, does not make me a bigot.
