Sipping a Franciscan Well Alpha Dawg, nice aroma and flavour, lots of cascade and some malt too! Great apart from this Admiral hop for bittering. I can't remember of having a hop like that in such quantity, definatly one to let your tastebuds adjust to. Solid beer though and Im going to enjoy the rest. :D

***Anyone have any thoughts on the 1l bottle? It definatly makes the beer look more impressive in the shop, but it is a large quantity presumably the arguement would be its for sharing. I noticed the flip top isn't that good at keeping the beer from going flat, obviously it didn't go completely flat before I finished it but still. Also I presume if they where hand bottling it reduced their work load.

Tonight i'll be having either a Leffe Vieille Cuvee or a Leffe Radieuse

    Decisions decisions....

    Both!!

I've never had them side by side but drinking them months apart, I can't really tell any difference between them!

Add leffe ruby to that list...all nice beers but similar memories of the 3

Samuel Adams triple bock. Very chocolatey. Also a weird amount of sediment/scum at the bottom.

where'd you get the triple bock?

I really enjoyed an Unertl Dunkelweizen last night.

Also a really good first time home brew (thanks Ronan).
I am amazed at the quality that can be gotten first time out from a kit with some extra hops thrown in. I hope it's not just beginner's luck!

I got it from Drinkstore last year. I wasn't impressed by it to be honest.

    No, it's pretty horrible stuff.
Tactical Nuclear Penguin is much nicer (but about 5 times the price!).

I love Samuel Adams Triple Bock. Can't be having with Tactical Nuclear Penguin at all.

I wonder was there something 'off' with the bottle I had. The cork was in poor condition and it was really soupy. Not nice at all.

I think it's supposed to be. It's around 18%, totally flat and autolysed to hell and back. I've heard there's just one continuous batch of it which they top up and draw off from continuously. I like to have one tiny liqueur glass and then re-cork the bottle.

I wouldn't mind, I love Marmite but couldn't handle this stuff at all! (and yes I was drinking it in liqueur like quantities),

As gimmicky as they are, I love them. I have yet to be disappointed by any of them. Looking forward to the new IPA is dead pack.

Magic Rock Dark Arts stout (draft) - I found this to be a lovely beer. Had the usual chocolate & coffee nose and roasted bitterness, but also had a surprisingly fresh & bright hop profile to it, which I wasn't expecting in a stout. Really enjoyed it.

Brewdog Paradox Jura (draft) - I'd been eager to try this for a few weeks and wasn't disappointed. Quite sweet initially, a little smoke or wood to it but the stand-out flavour for me was cherries or marzipan. Almost port-like. It took me the guts of an hour to get through a half pint and was still tasting it an hour after I finished it.

I have Erdinger Oktoberfest chillin' in the fridge right now. My favourite of all the special brews they have.

I'm off to Berlin next weekend so will have to bring my drinking belly with me. :D

Having a couple of bottle of tesco's finest Traditional Porter while watching the rugby at the moment.
Its brewed by the Harviestoun Brewery for tesco. I'm over in London so not sure if its available back home. Have to say, its really tasty. Nice creamy head from the bottle. Very smooth.

Haven't seen it here, or even in the northern Tesco's actually. They might not sell it because Belfast Black is available there though.

I've only seen it in tesco's this week. Seems pretty new. Keep an eye out for it.
    I definitely recommend it.

Just opened a bottle of De Molen Rijn & Veen and nearly had to call the lifeguard! What a gusher!

Still waiting for it to settle down. Only managed to pour half of the 330ml bottle (into 2 glasses!) because there was so much foam, so just waiting for it to settle.

Porterhouse Barrel Aged Celebration Stout - shared a bottle of this tonight and was really impressed.

For an 11% beer its not too overpowering but you can definitely taste the alcohol hit.
I got a lovely coffee and roast malt taste initially followed by a woody whiskey taste.

Was in McCambridges in Galway to pick up a few Lean Follain and O'Hara's IPA and noticed they had this in stock.

I'd had it before but it was after a few beers and I wasn't really impressed but thought it was only fair to give it another shot.

It's good, I'm enjoying sitting here sipping it, lovely and malty, little smokey in the middle and some dried dark fruit in there somewhere, a little bitter but the sort of bitter you get from a good dark chocolate not hops.

It's a pretty good beer and I'd gladly drink it again.

I wouldn't pay €6.50 for another bottle though.

Enjoying a Guinness FES with my (early) dinner here now.

Haven't had it in a while and I have to say, I still love it, such a great beer. Gives Leann Follain a run for it's money as far as the best stout brew in Ireland goes.

A great example of how macro brewed beer can taste when the companies get it right!
