how did this tool Borris get where he is.. the man is retarded!

    http://www.thejournal.ie/london-mayor-dismisses-patricks-day-celebration-as-lefty-crap-351308-Feb2012/
THE MAYOR OF London has been criticised for offending the Irish community in remarks he made about a St Patrick’s Day celebration in London.
Irish groups in London have said Boris Johnson’s remarks were “contemptuous” and belong in the past. However Johnson has refuted the criticisms and said that he “appreciates and admires the Irish”.

In an excerpt from an interview in the New Statesman magazine this week Johnson said:
I’ll tell you what makes me angry – lefty crap,” he thunders in response. Like? “Well, like spending £20,000 on a dinner at the Dorchester for Sinn Féin.

London mayor dismisses a single dinner event which takes place on Patrick’s Day as ‘lefty crap’
Clarified the headline so it reflects what's actually in the article

    1. Self finaning dinner /= dinner for Sinn Fein

    2. Why did Corrigan, Dunbar and other Irish sign off on a letter that refers to London as "our capital city"?

    3. Boris has not been asked to finance such gatherings so why is he saying that he was, instead, elected to direct payment towards policing in London etc.?

    Confused,

    Kraggy.

What (little) respect I had for The Journal just evaporated. Utter tripe on their part.

.....self financing = no skin off his nose.

As for Boris opinion of the Irish, I'm somewhat indifferent, as I'd imagine he still has one of these in his head when referencing the world at large....

    Let's all get hysterically angry about this . . . .

How dare the Mayor of London express an opinion of an event that happens in London?

    What a load of pish!

There's a fairly big egg chasing match on over here that day. That'll keep me more than occupied!

Maybe it's because they live in London and built careers for themselves that they might have managed had the remained "at home"

London provided many Irish people, including me, with jobs and homes when there was little available "at home".

I read the article. Seen it was Boris doing the talking, I laughed and moved on.
    He's a Prince Philip daily gaff wanna-be.
I moved on. Better things to worry about!

To the people who are offended by this can you write out a list of things people can talk about without offending anyone?

What Boris should remember is that Irish people are spread all over the UK and not just in London and the Manchester , Liverpool ,Glasgow and other Irish communitys will still have their St Patricks days festivals anyway ,if on a smaller scale .

He is socially awkward and puts his foot in it a lot, but beleive or not he is quite brillant intellectually and academically. So why he courted the public life I would never understand, but hey, as one of the most powerful men in Britain hasn't he done well.

In all behind the scenes he has done a great job and will win reeleclection.

But the tradgedy in this while he is mayor he wont appear on have i got news for you, now that was boris at his, lt was comedy gold.

He was referring to a St. Patrick's Day £20,000 self-financing Sinn Fein party for celebrities at the Dorchester Hotel which he cancelled in 2009... ... wait, no that can't be right, I think I've missed something.

Confused X2. No big deal regardless.

I doubt too many people would be happy if we spent £20,000 on a dinner for Sinn Fein!!

Glad to see that people have pointed out the Sein Fein reference which in the main and Lefty comment aside , was what Boris was refering to .

Especially considering these are supposed to be working class socialists. Anything to win a vote as they say.
