anyone recieve their tablet yet? I recieved a tracking code from dinodirect,
with a link to ems tracking, with a sub link to an Post. needless to say An post did not have a record of this package on file to track.

I did however google "EMS tracking", put my code in and there she was, still sitting in china 12 days after purchase. will I recieved this within 28 days? doubt it.

Mine is with cutoms in Portlaoise since the 7th Feb.

Doesn't look too good for no duty.

At least the lads in Portlaoise have some time to play with it before you get hit with the duty, vat and processing fee!

I got mine on Monday - no charges or nuffink. Had a little play on it and it looks very good. Good capacitive screen - not as sensitive as my ipad but good all the less. Android market works fine. Comes with english manual.

All in all v impressed - just have to wait till next Tuesday until i give to the missus to really see what in can do. Also looks very good and comes well presented in a white (ipad like) box.

If you have the magazine from last Saturday's Irish Star you can have it for €89 (voucher for €30 off).

Not sure how good this tablet is though.

    Orange pilled.

If it's the Scroll one on their website it got a pretty bad review:

"An extremely flawed Android tablet that is best avoided"

That's what they said, keep the reciept and it will be refunded. Athough it is annoying.

Really, did they say they would refund the customs charge? Mine is stuck in customs, so might have to pay. I'm not sure if I get the charge back. How does it work?

I got a email from pigsback saying if vat was owed, send or email the vat reciept and the amount owed would be refunded using what method it was paid by, so if you used laser, it will be returned using that.

That's good, I guess they would have to do it. How long will customs hold it for? mine has been there a week now. Com'on lads! Deliver it!! Has anybody had to pay customs on it - how much?

Have you rang customs to check up?

Has anyone had it sent seized in Dublin??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 189 ✭✭alekito

I haven't rung - don't want to draw attention!! But they have had it a week. I thought they might hold it a day or two. Some seems to have gotten through, as some people say they have them already. Not me ... :(

Its grand for messing around with. The response and touch are not great but i was not expecting much. Worth the price though for sure. There is also flash and a usb port which you dont get with the ipad.

Mine has just been released from customs, so should know Monday or Tuesday what the situation is with any charge. Hopefully not, but will have to wait and see. Whatever happens I will post it here.

How have you found the wireless on it. Mine hardly works at all. Even right beside my router the connection keeps dropping.

I am surprised that Customs don't see this as an attempt to evade duty. The suppliers know that duty is payable but they are working on the principle that they will refund anyone who is caught. This will cost them far less than paying the duty :)
