    I was particularly worried by number 9, 14, 17 and 18. Who in their right mind would continue to use password as their password. :eek: In fact all of them are god awful passwords.

    Irish Aid Agency apparently
    Meanwhile, the Irish Aid Agency website was taken offline after suspicious activity was discovered.
    The Department of Foreign Affairs issued a statement about the Irish Aid Agency site saying: "we are aware of website user login information being posted online."
    It continued. "the website server has been taken offline as a precautionary measure and the matter is being investigated by our IT specialists."
    The statement said: "this is an external service and is separate to the internal Departmental servers; these have not been affected."

    I agree that it's an extreme example but it could happen. The point is that these kind of examples have to be made in order to get the point heard. It's not about music or video piracy, it's about general copyright.

    I've seen a couple houses blurred out in my town so obviously you can put in a request to Google maybe for legal reasons maybe

    The most ridiculous part of this is that it will only affect legitimate users. Piracy will not even skip a beat. It's hilarious how many ways you can get pirate material online without ever going near a website. Not to mention the old fashioned way, DVDs and thumb drives.

    This legislation is a sham, like most of the things that our government do. Just another reason to add to the list in favour of emigration.

    I feel you syco, but this goes past, left/right politics. there'll always be a few of us crusties showing up where corporations are bribing government. but, like with SOPA in the states, Republicans and Democrats both put their differences aside to fight it. It pains me to say it, but Republicans probably pushed more against SOPA as it was a Democrat proposal? or because it affects Rep. voters as much as it does Dems.

    Watch the debate i linked above, you'll see A FG TD referring to you and me as keyboard warriors on this one. He'd like nothing more than for us to stay home and watch telly during the protest.

    I don't know, I'm in work. I'll try to rip it later and post it to youtube and bit torrent legally (after all we did pay for it)

    by the description, I'd say it's near the end of the stream, just keep shipping until you recognize Sherlock reading his 1 page statement in a repeating loop for an hour and 20 mins.

    The guy who wanted this implamented eg "The head of EMI" is also chair man of IMRA (which is stragingly enough ament to look after the rights of an individual artist). But IMRA seems to believe that any artist signed to them (mostly up and coming acts eg you are automatically signed to them (no fee) it you our played on National radio twice, National TV once, they will be so good that they will collect your royalities, What IRMA started doing about 2 years ago was charge fan based Blogs of up and coming bands, they asked for €300 to promote your act or band,the blogs stopped, the up and coming bands made on average 0.25

    What this act is asking for and it's what all the major label media companies, want is the distribution rights to our art, they way to break this, is to own our own art, the way to beat this is by having an opinion, to voice it and quote people "Always quote where you get your information from"

    For a song, no your copy right laws and how to bend them, a record label owns the rights to record a song, they generally don't own the rights to the song, so if you do a cover ask for the rights off the artist, generally if they our happy with it they will hand it too free.:)

    Last point goes with everything on line, pictures/videos/graphics/quotes most people want their art to be seen, heard, read their is no artist I know who dosn't want to share their art, most of it is free just now acknowledge the creator of the piece of work.

    You may think now I'm infavour of this I'm not, cause it is actually against every artists wise, What will happen though, independent labels will appear, people will start buying from them, radio station will be unlistened and become the new tabloid Press. Things will change big time the "big media comanies" have just sound their death Knell ( eg they are hammering home the last nail in their coffin) they have already lost

    Why cause we will do what they ask (smile sweetly) and still do promotion of arts underground.

    Example of smiling sweetly I have a youtube channel that me and any other artists I video/record/edit actually we own the copyright. We all owe it, I manage it but we all own it, and the great thing about this channel is that I can go and see these guys life here in Ireland, in their local, playing their songs, whatever their genre. Here is two right now. (that we own the copyright too and to prove my point)

    In fairness let the big "Media Companies" try to shut us up, by trying to do it they have already given themselves the smoking gun, fingerprints apon it, owned by them. Most people just want to heard/seen/understood, that is where they failed The "media Companies" by trying for distribution rights the missed out on copyright law, both myself and the artist own the 100% rights to those links I posted, why cause we own the visual, they own the song, it's copyright working regardless of EMI, and the other companies :D
