What is the saddest song you ever heard? For me it's a toss up between two songs written by Dolly Parton believe it or not (Such an underrated songwriter in my opinion). The first one is 'Down from Dover' which was banned from the airwaves upon its release:

Fireflies by owl city. Last song I heard just as I got a call to say somebody very close to me had died. Even now hearing it brings me straight back to that numb painful moment.
