Great example to set for your kids.

yeah **** you, I should be on minimum wage for the sake of my kids is that your logic arsehole?

by the way I am full time working professional

Great example to set for your kids.

I think it is a good example.

Too many people justify the being stuck in **** jobs they hate for **** pay because they're stuck in the mode of "social responsibility".

But at the end of the day when food needs to be put on the table to feed my family I'll **** anyone over in a heartbeat to do it.

Ha Job Bridge, was looking through it there the other day a local hardware store is looking for a stock/floor person. Is this not the perfect example of employers taking advantage of both the system and the person.

I do believe its a good thing for people who genuinely need experience for example in an architect or doctors office.

This sort of job being advertised stacking shelves takes the good out of job bridge and thats why people end up feeling like they don't want to be taken advantage of.
especially if the y have done 3 or 4 years in college getting a masters degree.

well yes, it was patiently insulting- perhaps you didn't notice being a total ****ing cretin.

    Touched a nerve did I?

i think what he may be saying is that why should he teach his kids to be taken advantage of by employers by working for minimum wage if he has so much to offer either with experience or education or both.

If we all had the attitude that we work for minimum wage no matter what, no employer would offer a decent wage and we would be back in the land of the dark ages.

You're the one who said you'd rather sit on the dole and use every trick to screw the system than work for the minimum wage.

If they're the values you want to teach your kids, then go ahead - I'm sure you'll raise fantastic members of society.

Don't conform to expectations and do what you need to to eat is an excellent value to teach kids.

It might ease the tax payers pocket for him not to be sitting on the dole but if working for minimum wage doesn't put food on the table then that's an easy decision for any family man.

Better hope your wife doesn't work, or it's €188 a week and that's all she wrote. Nothing towards the mortgage, nothing (beyond what you already get) towards the kids.

I earn just about minimum wage but have a family so work cash into hand two nights a week and every Saturday. Couldnt pay the rent without it. Family first everything else second. Sure look at the great example our supposed betters are showing paying of gambling debts. Fck that.

Do what you have to do man, look after your family No.1, it's tough times.

Never mind the whiter than white types spouting their rubbish on here, we have big business/property types who destroyed the country yet they're all swaning it down in 'Costa del Whatever'.

I won't judge you for pulling a few stunts.

Sure why would you - it's what us Irish are good for and it's why we are where we are.
Politicians, Bankers, Developers - sure they were all just pulling a few stunts, why judge them?

If you want to sit on the dole and pull a few stunts as opposed to work your arse off on the minimum wage - fine.

But excuse me if I judge you as a dole-sponger and a pretty poor example for your kids.

Would you go on the dole if it allowed you better feed that high horse of yours?

How about my medical expenses for example? I need regular medication. How on earth do you pay for that on MW?

Hi, have you applied for a medical card? I got one without any hassle due to a low wage?

Cheers, the point is I am gainfully employed, I was speaking about the cruelty of minimum wage

It's alright man, am long gone out of Ireland at this stage.

I did my time on the dole and did what I had to do to get by and reposition myself in life. Needless to say it all worked out, no regrets, it's all one giant rat race at the end of the day, sink or swim.

As for that lad offered 50 extra euro on top of his dole to work a 35 hour week....slave labour........laughable stuff! We're not back in 17-18 century again but could be if this carry on prevails.

Actually a mate of mine is looking for that internship thing. I think he has a spot and fingers crossed he'll get it. The guy who did his work experience with him wasn't looking to take anyone on but said if the 3 months go well he'll keep him on. Providing him with a van and mobile as well.

I know some are taking advantage of it but some people are benefiting from it.

Great example to set for your kids.

    Not great at all.....

The correct example is to teach them to work, pay no tax and claim the dole.

They will be rich... Rich $$$$$$$

Instead of throwing around childish names (which you'll probably get a bannin' for) - why don't you tell us what hourly wage you'll actually work for if you lose you job?

We all know it has to be more than the minimum wage - otherwise you've said you're happy to sit on the dole.

So how much would it actually take for you to (hypothetically) get off your arse and go and do an honest days work?

And btw it's 'you're' not 'your'

Bill Cullen thinks you should work for nothing, and be grateful for the nothing. Silly old fashioned opinions like his are irrelevant today.
