People have this hangup about drinking during the day in this country. I'll start at anytime I want to, there is no such thing as it being 'Too Early'.

Back in the day anytime could be drinking time,no no limits :)

I've started drinking at 6 in the morning before. Worked out pretty well, I was sober by dinner time :D no hangover either for a change.

I don't know why the time of day matters but I suppose I'd be scandalized by people falling around drunk in daylight too :/

Well today I was in college from 9 'til 2, as it's a Thursday and I only have one lecture tomorrow, I decided to have a lash of cans with the lads. I arrived home (langers) at half 6 and the parents are having a fit saying that I shouldn't be drinking until at least 8 o'clock in the evening.

So I ask you all as I'm cowering away in my bedroom: "How early is too early to start drinking?"

How you feeling now, going for more ?

Usually when its bright, I don.t know why but I can never drink when it is bright outside, even at weddings.

So you wouldn't drink at half 9 during the summer?

    You're a sad case

As for the OP, it depends on the occasion

    Expand please.

It was beer so it was fine

If it was Brandy I would say no, that's an evening time drink just for example.

Just the pints for me now lad.

Never to early to start drinkin. You only lasted a few hours u lightweight. Do more training.
I was in digs in first year back in 1996 until Xmas. Thats worse than living with your parents. Enjoy the hangover or have a cure.

Earliest I've started is 12pm. I've had chances to kick off at 9am and didn't take them but it is something I plan to do in the near future.

White Russian Cornflakes here I come.

I think the more important question is
How late is too late to start drinking? maybe 4 a.m? too late?

We used to go around to our local at around 10 when the barman ws doing a bit of cleaning and getting ready to open up, by the afternoon they would be plying us with free sambos to keep us drinking, then by 6, the takeaway (midnight express) would be open and we would take it in turn to go and get food, then off to the temple or the palace ****faced and arrive back to the flat at around 3 the next morning

I remember going on holidays a few years ago with family, myself and my uncle had one in the airport at 5 in the morning. I was only up about an hour. That felt weird. Perfectly fine to have a few sociable ones from lunch-time (1-ish) onwards in my opinion.

What is it that makes one get more drunk and quicker if it's bright when you start?

Anyone else find that? If I start at evening/night time I'm absolutely fine for the first few drinks. But if I start early afternoon, I feel a little dizzy almost straight away (but am able to keep going as long as usual).

I find the tipsisness is directly proportional to the height of the sun in the sky. So I'd get more dizzy the earlier I start.

Why is that I wonder? Something to do with the body clock not having gone far enough into the day or something?

I feel quite poorly now to say the least, won't start drinking that early again for a while. Fairly sure I said a few things that I'm going to regret but at least I got the ride :-)

I've been f*cked up at all hours of the day and night, but these days I try not to drink before 6 or 7. Will be hard today though as the beer fridge opens at 1600 at work and then I'm going out after. Well things could be worse, rofl.

I lived at home while i was in college 3 years ago........ But mostly cos my parent's house was right across the road from the college and i had to pay full fees (as it was my second time in college).

Retrained to I.T. after my Architectural Technician career took a nose dive after the bank meltdown. Thankfully I'm working in Dublin now and have my own place again.

Usually start around 5pm on a normal thurs/fri/sat night or around 8pm if I'm up home. Could start early in the afternoon if there is a match on or the cure is needed.

Weekends away with the lads/friends visiting usually end up starting around 10am, sometimes we even make a rule that you have to have started when the clock hits 10am.

Earliest Ive ever started (after sleeping) was 6am ish for the Ireland v wales rugby match, straight into the vodka and red bull :D

Your only mistake op was going home and not staying out for the night!

I was gonna say I've never drank in the morning, but then I have been to festivals...... :P

I normally don't drink til the evening but yeah, had daytime drinks a few times. Especially in the summer! BBQ and a few drinks.... mmmmmm :D

I wouldn't worry about it unless you're doing it every week or swigging the cans by yourself at 8am.

Parents are weird about drinking. Sure my mam thinks I have an unhealthy attitude to binge drinking ( I go out once a week / every 2 weeks) and I'm 24 years of age!
