Week 2 is begun. I lost 7.5lbs in total :-) as I still have 50lb to go to get back to where I was 2 years ago I'm not surprised by the loss.

My eating continues to go well & pleases me :-)

I started my work outs today & I'm wrecked.

    Well done LoTwan.
I find it strange that I haven't lost weight...my carbs have been under 100g most days. Not to worry.
tescos have ready to eat avocados on offer at the mo for €1 - had one with lunch, very nice.

    Eta 11+4
Protein - egg, prioscutto, avocado, walnuts, minced beef, Greek yogurt.

If I could only post one thing on the Internet today it would be "thank you for liking The Whole 9's page on FB". I feel fantastic. For the first time in about 6 months I feel like I have the potential to take control of my life, my body, my home and my future.

I believe it takes 10lbs to fit into the clothes you should have stopped wearing 10lbs ago so I am just now fitting my jeans properly and I am fine with that. I know my body was used yesterday as I have some DOMS but nothing any louder than the voice that says "you are alive"

Food choices are trundling along almost with no thought at this stage which is great as I get fixated on food.

How are you post workout these days DCD?

In a world of dom pain!! SO bad I had the take neurofen for it. If you look under my profile you'll see my fitnes log. It's gotta ease up soon though, right?

I am not one for pain killers but I took 2 ibuprofen yesterday to **** the ASTONISHING headache that I had.

I got on & exercised today & am glad I did. I'm bummed that the Gymboss app on my phone doesn't work with iOS 5 :-(

Urgh yesterday was a complete write-of, had a hangover, and then a migraine, ate crap.

New day, sun is shining today! Had a huge breakfast of spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, egg, and as a treat some fried slices of prosciutto - salty yumminess!

gym at 11. Going to try make the breakfast loaf over the weekend.

I just received my one of thse in the post this week and made our first stir fry with carrots and parsnips cut using this ands some chopped onion, ginger, peppers and chorizzo. It was fab - just like fried noodles ( but tastier )

worst thing im finding is eating out. My gf is eating normal so when were out we have to go eat in regular restraunts etc. Spent ages today looking for somewhere just to have lunch. Eneded up finding a place that seved omelettes. So hard not to just order a sanwich though!

Another thing that ive just noticed is that im eating quite a lot of fats. If im to loose weight, i Still need a calorie deficite apparantly. Ive been eating like a horse the past few days. Gonna have to cut it out and get more calculated about what im eating!

Have you looked back on a day and worked out the calorie load of what you are consuming?

    Week 3 Step 3
Eat only whole, unprocessed foods — again, fresh fruit/veg, fresh meats/fish/poultry, etc. Get used to eating these foods. Make sure you know how to shop for, prep, and make them taste good. (Not hard to do, luckily.) Learn where your food comes from.

So no findus crispy pancakes?:D

they do a grass fed beef one don't they?
So I knwo I'm going to have to quit chocolate when it comes to the sugar month, but I suppose that comes in under "processed food" doesn't it? or not?
I'm talking Lindt or Green&Black dark chocolate, not a Lion bar like.

A little dark in moderation isn't that frowned upon. But it has to be in the upper 80% coco to qualify. The lindt 85% is gorgeous. I have a square every night with a cuppa

Just thought if share. Made the most delish primal (well 90%) muffins.

    What you'll need
    1/4 cup of coconut flour
    3 medium eggs
    1/4 tsp salt
    2 tbsp coconut oil melted
    2tbsp coconut milk
1tbsp honey (the non primal part!)
    1/4 tsp bicarbonate of soda
1 tsp vanilla extrac or essence
    Handful of blueberries

Mix it all together to a batter consistency. Stick it in muffin cases or bun cases and put in the oven at 205 for 15 minutes. Boom a seriously tasty treat!

thehamo... Where do you get your coconut flour & does it cost you the earth? My health food shop is quoting €8.50 for 500g!!

Only whole foods eh DCD, so you can have rice but not pasta. Officially chorizo falls off the menu then but I couldn't live if that happened. LOL

I got mine in holland and Barrett. Tbh mine was about the same but you use so little of it when cooking it goes a really long way. It's so much denser than normal flour. If you were to use the same quantities as normal flour what ever you're making will just turn into cement!

I wonder if you got organic chorizo would it be free from nitrates, soya sh1t etc? I must check out the ones in Spain when I'm over in May. I know the one I ususally bring back is a cheapy supermaket own brand but maybe he more expensive ones.....
Lotwan, I actually haven't been having either rice or pasta since I started really....
Love the sounds of your pancakes thehamo, I did something similar with ground almonds once.

    http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1472/easy-sweet-and-sour-chicken
    (not in microwave though!)

I once found acorn-fed chorizo in my local market, that was the bomb-diggity.

But even that would still have nitrates, though I don't think nitrates are anything to be particularly concerned about anyway.

I have been reading through this thread and like that the focus is on eating more veg, fruit, lean protein, etc, rather than on deprivation, for the first few steps anyway!
Just one question please - does salad count? I try to eat a salad with my lunch everyday - lettuce or spinach, tomatoes, cucumber and peppers so just wondering if I can count this?
    Thanks!

Of course it does! Unless its drowned in processed salad dressing. But dressing less, fill you boots my friend!

I made roasted kale last night and OMG I had to fight the 6 year old for it.

DCD... Non processed is tough, eh? I'm still laughing at the grass fed crispy pancake :-)

My herb & spice collection has EXPLODED in the last 2 weeks. My kitchen smells fantastic. My dishwasher is just about coping with the increased amount of dishes cooking at home is generating. My fridge looks like a painters palate :-)

I threw out sme old spring onions yesterday. That is the first food to be thrown out in 2 weeks. I'm impressed by that.

I have a headache this morning but that is because I didn't drink enough water yesterday. I'm going to stay in my mothers tomorrow night & am just bringing my food with me :-)

Oh, and I have lost 9lbs in two weeks. YAY!

Bloody hell I'm jealous, I've lost sweet f.a, you'd thinking cutting my carbs to c.100g would have an effect  hey ho.
So finished the pack of ham today so won't buy that again.
Dinner is m&Sgammon with parsley sauce so I guess the sauce counts as processed right ? frickity frick.
Will do some kind of sweet potato side dish (any ideas ?)and broccoli.

Have been listening to lots of paleo podcasts.
Primal Diet - Modern health is good I really like the presenter
Lotwan, I think you'd really like Everyday Paleo.
I have my iphone hooked up to the bluetooth in th car so listen to them when the kids aren't with me, or on my phone when doing the washing up/houswork.

The parsley sauce will be full of flour, that's really its problem - the sauces are a nightmare - personally I like my food with sauce and trying to replicate that with paleo or primal is really hard - people do it with things like ground almonds but I don't think it really works.

Do you look at the recipe thread on Mark's Daily Apple? There is quite a lot of ideas on there, but it is all American stuff. Funny reading about how excited they get about Kerrygold GRASSFED butter though!

Here's another good recipe site, I'm going to ahve this tonight with my roast chicken
    http://www.health-bent.com/sides/paleo-green-not-bean-casserole

So week 3 hasn't been great, find it very hard to completely eschew all processed foods even when I'm eating healthily, but I shall strive on...to the BUG step - no sugar  Having a 10% moment this evening with M&S rhubarb pie & ice-cream before I quit :o

eta - the kale was delicous, but then again what isn't yummy with double cream.
