The bird is a red-shouldered hawk. Can be easily confused with light adult broad winged hawk or light juvenile broad-winged hawk. The bird in the photo has conspicous red scapulars (shoulders) which the broad winged hawk will never show.

She's not though

Anyway, it's my own fault. Too much spilt seed from the feeders attracting unwanted guests.

Miss Fox was around last night I think and triggered the trap and actually moved it. Some hairs were left on it.

Try again tonight.

Not many Collared doves in my area these days. Maybe there is competition with Wood pigeons that are getting much braver.

The best place/easiest to see them is Wexford wildflowl reserve (www.wexfordwildfowlreserve.ie). At the entrance to the main building are bird feeders and there's always a few tree sparrow hanging around them.

Out and about this morning and saw three Bullfinches, 1 male and 2 female
the male was ringed, haven't noticed this on wild birds before, though I
do know that it does occur. Bullfinches seem to be a rarity in this neck of
the woods, I have only ever had one visit the garden in the last 30+ years.
So delighted to have seen them.

Getting a lot (for us) of goldfinches, there were five today.

Redpoll waiting contentedly for a chance to get in to the feeder. We have far more with just the red cap and only a couple with pink breasts.
