A lot of big games are around the October/November mark for christmas. I reckon it will be later in the year.

I remember Vice City and San Andreas were released around October and November and i think GTA4 was originally sheduled for a November released but got pushed back til the following April so i reckon October/November is a pretty reasonable guess for release.

Mildly interesting at best :P

It appears to have been suspended in mid-air before the cop car goes past so I'd put it down to it being so early in production. Things like this happen on a fully released game all the time anyway.

we will see it this year anyway, rockstar north havnt deved anything since gta4 so they have been working on it a while, also they could have just announced it at e3 or any of the big shows i wonder why they didnt

They don't really need to announce it. Teasers is the way they've done it since GTA III so why change now. Rockstar don't even have to do trailers to build hype either. Hell, they could announce it's being released tomorrow and the queues would start to form now.

in what way ? Even with MW3 being pretty bad... i still can't see anything out doing CoD in terms of sales.. not even a GTA game.

GTA IV was the biggest selling game on launch of any game in history before Modern Warfare 2 took the title from them.

No game, not even Modern Warfare, has ever sold out since GTA IV.

You only need to talk to people around you to know the kind of following GTA has, its probably the one game that can attract such a broad appeal.

Even in a recession, I'd expect GTA V to be a sell-out and break the sales record set by MW3.

I've no doubt it'll sell well... but as ever.. sales don't = quality. Lets just hope its not incredibly boring like GTA IV was.

Just to clarify, the record was most sales on launch day and within first 7 days of any game in history.

And from what I've read, MW3 seems to have broken most records in the industry:

thing about CoD is even the casuals are slowly coping on to the fact that every iteration is just a rehash of CoD 4, so id just about guarantee that gta v will outsell which ever cod comes out this year, GTA V will be the biggest (selling) game this year in my opinion

Agreed. Plus GTA IV was released in April, not even during the rush and madness of the Christmas period. GTA V will be much bigger than GTA IV. Like all franchises it usually gathers steam as it hits the forefront of its series. I think GTA V will probably be the peak of the franchise imo

When GTA IV was released there were over 20 million less consoles in homes too as there were when MW3 was released so you have to take that into account. It'll be a very close run contest between which sells the most I'd say.

Could people please stop posting dates from online stores? All dates are only placeholders until R* makes an official announcement. I could set up an online store and have the date as this coming Friday if I wanted. The only thing that the dates show is that no one has a clue. I've seen places with dates ranging from June '12 - Nov '12.

November 23rd is the very latest we will know when it will be released and in the sense that when a release date is announced, the online shops that you have made your prebookings with might get to send you a nice email saying:
"Hey you'd never guess what... that game is coming out sooner! Arent you glad you pre-booked with us!?"

Every single release date you see is a stab in the dark with a butter knife, no one knows but Rockstar, and even then they would be planning contingencies for potential delays. There's a site, can't remember which one, as having the game to be released between 2012 and 2014.

In my opinion, and while taking into account their previous releases in tandem with their teasers, it'll be out this autumn/winter or next year. That's as close to fact as you can get without being a member of the dev team.

I'm always surprised by CODs popularity, it was getting old once the 3rd one came out. I don't see how people can pay top money for what is essentially the same game over and over again.

In fairness that is different. Fifa does evolve slowly and the leagues are updated. Nobody would buy fifa if there they made a cheap download available that would update the teams. I know i wouldnt.
