Toilet etiquette while staying overnight in someone's house...

So you get up in the middle of the night to go to the toilet. Do you:

    a) flush and wake the whole house up at 4 in the morning and be greeted by some very annoyed people the next morning

    b) leave without flushing and allow the remnants to marinade and fester overnight - again to be greeted by some very annoyed people the next morning

Bear in mind that the only person that could be responsible for all this is you because all other occupied bedrooms have an en suite..

What is the proper toilet etiquette while visiting?

If it's yellow, let it mellow. If it's brown, flush it down.

Alternatively, ask for a bed pan.

Just piss all over the place and blame it on the youngest / eldest person in the house

Put the lid down and flush, makes less noise.

I must be a terrible house guest from reading some on threads here , there are so many things that I would never think of.

If you have done so, get the toilet brush and push it round the U bend and forever forgotton.

At home we were taught not to flush at night if it's just pee, but in my own apartment I would always flush. My flatmate has taken to not flushing if he goes in the night though and I'm always finding it the next day  his way of warning me I think is to close the lid and put the toilet roll on top of it. ****in fool. I don't want to look at your wee, and the flush won't wake me up, just flush the ****in toilet!!

It's not always by choice. He may have had the trots / scutters / gawks / runs / the squits / the s*its. i.e. diarrhoea

Who is woken up by a toilet flushing?

Flush it for gods sake. Rather the sound of rushing water at 4am than to open the lid of the jax at 8am to be met with the pong of stale piss..... or worse.

They hear you stumbling around, slamming doors, loudly peeing, and then they wait to hear the sounds of flushing ... but nothing.

Everyone is awake and annoyed you did not flush.

Bring a plastic bag with you and put the used toilet roll into it. Dispose of it separately the following day.

    Don't flush.

Probably be better off top decking. That way there's no need for you to flush.

This would never even come into my head if I was in that situation...FLUSH FFS :pac:

Have you ever been wakened by someone flushing? My bedroom is next-door to the only bathroom in our house and it's never happened to me.

No really, you should always close the lid when you flush. Shocks me how many people don't know basic toilet etiquette and still debate the seat up or down thing when its both wrong.

There was an experiment done with an air freshener I found to be interesting. A guy sprayed one down a toilet, and left it for a few mins. You couldn't smell anything from it really. Then he flushes it with the lid up, and the whole room smelled like air freshener. Makes you think.

    Piss into the cistern.
That way you wont wake the house by flushing and they wont be greeted by the stench of your stale piss in the morning.
    And your saving the environment.

If you need a jimmy white,do it in one of your socks and sneak it out of the house in your pocket next morning.

Close the toilet lid then sit on it, then flush, muffles the sound.

I keep my toothbrush in a different room in case of this, just in case. Even though I put the lid down before flushing.

close the lid and put a towel over it before flushing, that deadens the noise

when its finished re-fold the towel and lift the lid and check you havent left a floater
