So essentially you chose UL because it was convenient to attend and it was cheap. You should write the marketing brochures for the college

"Come to UL, where the beer is cheap, the women are easy, and you'll get a job earning 25k with your degree"

Sorry about my late entry to this discussion.

Sid, I can only hope you were trolling for enjoyment, and not expressing serious views, because it makes me sick to think that I may have to work alongside such an arrogant prick on the wards some day.

How dare you sneer at the cost of studying in UL when money is the biggest barrier to education across the world. How dare you sneer at anothers course just because you consider medicine to be of a higher calling.

It's people like you that give doctors such a negative stereotype, prick.

@watawaster, Sid isn't worth the effort. Especially not after 3 weeks :D

What he said. Plus, he's still serving a 2-month ban for trolling and personal abuse, so he wouldn't be able to see your comment.

Despite Sid's wonderful personality, he mentioned a nice idea re: online learning - seems MIT agree.

trolling and wasters aside, i liked the renovations done to the building when i was last there....the heavy glass doors should do a good job of dampening the sound....

Does anyone know has the library installed wi-fi yet or are they still pushing a wired supply?

It has WiFi. Which is good, as most of the sockets are broken. :pac:

problem's with the cables more than the sockets.

True, though there are at least four places that don't even have plug sockets that work. :pac:

I have noticed though that the wireless network has slowed over the last semester, assuming they haven't upgraded the infrastructure in line with the huge increase in student numbers.

It's not just wireless... the wired network all over UL has gone to sh1t over this last semester as well. I think you might be right about it having something to do with student numbers, because I've been in UL for the past few days and the internet is definitely faster than it's been all year...

From what ive heard the main issue with the wireless is the smartphones putting extra load onto the system, dont know if that the reason or not so feel free to correct me if you like

It's a possible reason. I don't have my WiFi on as it drains the (already short) battery life out of my phone but I know others do, so it could be that.

Yeah, I've heard that as a reason as well. Apparently it's under strain because so many phones are constantly connecting and disconnecting from the network all day long. Come to think of it, it does seem to get more reliable after 6pm, so it's probably the case.
