Dominant in the modern day context is the man taking control, and making the decisions. Telling the woman exactly what he expects of her.
You have every right to be dominant over your girlfriend. You are the man.
    Bad old days?
    You cannot beat 1950's values.
Men were men. Women respected a man's authority.

:pac::pac: you don't know much about women.

Needing to "domineer" all the time is a sign of personal insecurity which is massively unsexy. It takes much more confidence to let it switch between the two partners. Confidence is hot.
Would you not get bored of the same person taking the lead in the sack all the time? I'd say that'd get fairly predictable after a while.

    Is this possible?
I don't think roles can be reversed.
I think being either dominant or submissive is a genetic character trait.
Some people are born confident, leaders, extroverts.
Some people are born shy, want to be led, introverts.
I think one can act in role reversal, but really you are born dominant or submissive.

I think women want men to be masculine and assertive, know what he wants.
I don't think they want a dominant male that will subdue them.
    Just a guess of course.

Dominant to me suggest the man getting what he wants all the time, who wants that? being happy to please your partner when she needs it (not just in sex) but having enough of a backbone to call her out on her bullsh1t is a good balance.

There may be some truth in that.
I know 2 women who have openly admitted they would go with a man if he was rich. Looks and age wouldn't come into it if he was a millionaire for example.
I think many women had a taste of the good life in the Celtic Tiger boom years, and they became greedy and materialistic as a result. Now they are hungry to have that lifestyle again, and see a rich man as the way to attain it.

Or perhaps they merely see them as potentially good providers for themselves and their offspring. Nothing wrong with that at the bottom of it all and let's be honest, the lads with the money aren't complaining either.

As for the poll, too confined...either/or...surely there's a middle ground. Not all women or men conform to some general sexual stereotype no matter how much we like to think that they do...

Making decisions, such as: should we go and see Sherlock Holmes or Mission Impossible?

I kid but I still disagree with you. Any real decisions effecting the both of us in a serious way would be discussed/debated and a solution found.

My Dad thinks I'm crazy for doing all the cooking, apparently my GF will see me as "less of a man/I'll lose my maleness" etc! I reckon I'm the better cook and besides it relaxes me. Dad's so old school it's unbelievable.

First they came for the socialists...

I think your thinking needs rethinking as it is limited in its pigeonholing of people

I can put you in a situation where you are forced to be the leader against your will or in a position where you shut up and do exactly what you are told

Extrovert doesnt mean confident and dominant. In fact it can be the complete opposite.

Excréments d'un taureau. Pardon my French.

In those days it was more about 'women know you place'.

The amount of people who are starting their sentences with 'Women like ____'

    It's stupid

    Some women like dominant men
    Some women like submissive men
    Some women like neither
Some women like the man to be dominant sometimes, submissive other times
Some women like men to adapt to the situation and be confident/assertive at times, not so much at other times
Some women like men to be dominant but only in the bedroom
Some women like men to be submissive but only in the bedroom

    etc. etc.

    Not at all.
It is human nature to be dominant or submissive.
Some women crave to be dominated by a man. They are submissive by nature and do not wish to be dominant themselves. They are only satisfied if a man takes the lead and is confident and controlling.

Are those the only two options?

What about those of us with healthy, balanced views who adapt and react appropriately to different situations ?

I think they are called metrosexuals.

You need to improve your thinking. Put down the beer and prehistoric club.

Metrosexuals are plonkers that fall for the beauty industry's crap about moisturiser and waxing and "bands" with no instruments.

Hey OP....aren't you the guy who posted here recently how you tell your women what they should wear and do? Brought me down with a serious dose of the heebie jeebies.

the limits of your poll (ie only have two options) invalidate such a claim

At the time of typing, 12 people voted and who's to say what gender they are?

I wonder how many of the majority that voted that women like men to be dominant are men assuming that they know what women want.

yeah Johnny the poll is going to be misleading. I mean it's all about what exactly you're referring to. and then degrees of dominance etc. I voted that a man should be dominant, but it doesn't mean I want to be tied down and peed on.

OP is a dominant man, you can tell because he has to create a thread about how dominant he is:rolleyes::pac:

thats what all dominant people have to do isnt it? tell people that they are dominant, otherwise people wouldnt get to find out:pac:

You are either submissive or dominant.
    They are genetic personality traits.
You cannot be both. That is why there are only 2 options in the poll.

seems to be an awful lot of females of the larger variety with very skinny submissive men lately , dont know what thats about.

A dominant woman could deal with me at all but some people seem to crave those types to keep their lives in check. Its just not something id ever want, bring back the 1950's where men werent submissive bitches about it.
