Talk about falling asleep on the job.

    Incompetent.

PLEASE STICK TO THE THRUST OF MY POSTING - THE SUBJECT BEING AN INCOMPETENT ON AUTOMATIC BEHIND A TILL, THANKS. ALL THE RESPONSES HAVE GONE DOWN A PREDICTABLE AVENUE
A 21-YEAR-OLD Romanian man was engaged in "skillful theft" by confusing bank cashiers while exchanging money, Sligo Court heard.

The man was said to be "part of a machine that was robbing banks and sending money out of the country." And although he had no obvious source of income, he was able to fly in and out of Brussels as well as produce thousands of euro whenever ordered by the court to do so.

Rindas Horobas, Monlea Grove, Firhouse, Tallaght, Dublin 24, was fined €1,000 on a charge that on June 7th last at Bank of Ireland, Stephen Street, Sligo, he induced a bank teller to exchange £1,200 into euro equivalent, then requested €50 notes and then wanted it exchanged into £50 Sterling, and in doing so retained €700, deceiving the bank of that amount.

He was also fined €1,000 on a charge that on June 8th last at Bank of Ireland, Diamond, Carndonagh, Donegal, he induced a teller to exchange £920 Sterling into euro, and afterwards wanted €1,000 in Sterling "with the Queen's head", and retained €550, deceiving the bank of that amount.

The day prior to Sligo Court, he had appeared in Carrick on Shannon court.

Sligo court was told that the defendant was "operating a threecard trick".

FFS it's obvious what this guy is up to

Next time he leaves for Brussels he should be refused entry on his way back in...

I have never, in my entire life, heard a good story about Roma.

Oh its obvious. Easy to pull the wool over 'Paddy or 'Brigid's eyes. Don't say much for the gullible teller does it though. Been too long in the job? Sack him/her, ferry him.

    Oh for god's sake.

Look, the bank doesn't ever lose, they'll just pass a loss on to the customer either way.

This isn't some Robin Hood style situation.

They need to hire Max Clifford or some other PR guru to spruce up their image.

It's not explicitly stated that this guy is a Roma but from the story and the quotes such as 'villainy and skullduggery' and 'den of thieves' it can probably be safely inferred.

Getting basic facts right is tree-hugging now? What a stupid answer.

What do you think should happen? It's what virtually every business in the world would do.

It's all passed onto the customer either directly or indirectly

In fairness, you're unlikely to see many newspaper headlines along the lines of "Romanian neighbor fed my cat when I was on holiday".

Without out getting a 'lesson' in Political correctness by the do-gooders but Romas can infact be Romanian and a high percentage are in fact Romanian.

I know the difference but I was answering another post that said Roma but I was refering to the op which was about a Romanian. Point still stands about negative and positive news stories.

Note how I made my point without having to use a rolleye.

Yes, but since the story is about a romanian, it could be either, as a higher percentage of romanians are not roma.

Of course it might be either, that's a given. However the media is so politically correct now it will never report that a "Roma" did xyz, just the same way that the media has, for the most part, stopped reporting that "traveller" families did xyz.

I work retail in a garage where for much of the time it's just myself there. I have Pakistani, Romanian and Indian colleagues. All grand lads that I've become friends with. I don't consider myself racist but you can if you want to...7

Every time a group of Roma come into the shop (they always come in during the day when it's just one staff member on duty) the place gets fleeced. The split up and with nobody to keep an eye on them they have free reign. If it's quiet I can try to keep an eye on them but it's normally busy and I don't realise they've even come into the shop until they're strolling out with skirts and bags full of food and valuables.

It's part of their culture to steal, beg, deceive and not integrate with anyone outside of their community.

The democracy loving die-hard in me would hate to see the day when one group is targeted with facist like forced emigration etc... But I've yet to hear any suggestion that could solve the problem.

If anyone has any I'm all ears.
