**** the naysayers, that £35m on Enricky is looking like value and at £6m, Carroll could come good.

I'm not a fan of gerrard at all, but his cameo yesterday made a massive difference. It is clear that he is what liverpool were missing the last few months. It was my first time watching Liverpool since the spurs game and I can see why carroll is getting a tough time. He is dreadful. His positioning and touch is appalling and even if he was bought for 1million, he still would be a flop. There was plenty of decent crosses in for him to get to the end of but he was either out on the wing or 2 or 3 yards behind the ball.

Bellamy was a great signing, I was always impressed with him wherever he was, can be hot and cold, but when he is good, he's very good.

To be fair to Carroll he looked a completely better player when Gerrard came on apart from when he failed to control the ball when through on goal.

Gerrard just knew what type of ball needs to be whipped in to Carroll.

I have no love for Liverpool. It's natural that I'm going to pick out and discuss the negative points about your football club,

Yay. Look forward to your posts.

The bar was pretty low so any sort of a performances was an improvment.

He done OK but could have done a hell of a lot better .

He never pre-empts a pass or possible deflection etc and his movement inside the box in non existent.

He requires a cross that resembles a heat seeking missle with it's accuracy , and frankly there is probably two players in the current squad who get the head up quick enough to attempt one .
Still could be a success but I think we need to change our whole formation and style to suit , which in turn makes us one dimensional and predictable to defend against , especially if you can cut out his supply of crosses etc.

Looking forward I can't see how Kenny can/could facilitate a starting spot for Carroll . I can only see him being an impact sub to try something different if we are struggling with plan A , or maybe a limited number of games that we come up against certain sides that we go with the aerial threat , but even at that I'm still not sure he has it in his locker to become the "beast" of a player most are predicting .

    Only time will tell.

Good win today for ye, but big Andy didn't do a tap all game to be honest, heavy touch and inaccuracy is all can be said.

Bellamy played well but he wont play every game, to inconsistent, and the rest did very little TBH...

Stevie didn't do to bad but he is a crock and will most likely get injured soon enough, i cant still see Liverpool placing outside the the top four, don't think they are a threat to Arsenal and Chelsea in the fight for fourth.

Carroll is like a drunk battering ram, clumsy and lacks quality, cant see him ever achieving anything at Liverpool, I reckon he misses being at the Toon.

This also sums up your posting style perfectly. WUMs like the Muppet and boggles had a finese to their posts that made them very successful during their respective careers in the Liverpool thread but you just don't seem to have that knack for it. Can't really see you ever achieving much in this thread but goodluck with it anyway.
    Boggles had a finese?

Gerrard showing some of them hows its done last night.

A fit and firing Gerrard could be like a new signing for us and could transform our season tbh.

    Delighted to see him back.

I would agree with you in that the bar seems to be set very low for Carroll in terms of what gets called a good game. He did look a bit better after Gerrard came on, but he still did not look great.

His positioning is still awful most of the time, and he still tried to avoid getting into the box for many of our attacks. His habit of dropping back to about half way between the 18 yard line and the halfway line is annoying as he simply does not have the pace, guile, or ability to do anything of use that deep.

I thought at the start of the season that he would be a bigger source of goals than Suarez and that people who were saying Suarez would be a goal magnet back in August were wrong. Looks like not only were they wrong about Suarez being a high goalscorer for Liverpool, I was also badly wrong about Carroll.

Downing gets slaughtered in here at times because he has no assists and no goals. When Downing gets a shot off and gets no goal he gets slagged off, yet when Andy Carroll has a few misses during a game he gets praised for having a good game.

We can't be relying on Gerrard to save Andy Carroll because given Gerrard;s injury record over the past three to four seasons he will miss plenty of games each season, so Carroll has to be able to be effective with or without Gerrard in the team. Having Gerrard back in the team is a bonus right now imho, but he is a short term option due to his age/injuries.

I'm just hoping that once the window opens tomorrow that we bring some quality in.

before Gerrard came on we really missed Suarez imo

Not sure i agree with that. I would be happy to see with same side start a few games but with Gerrard in midfield. In other words keep Suarez on the bench. He's creative but i reckon we'd score more goals with Bellamy and Carroll up front and Gerrard in the side too. Anyway, just my opinion.
Watched the match in town last night, great to see us get 3, some piece of defending from Skrtel to deny Ba (and to be fair it was an incredible piece of skill from Ba too-reminded me of that goal Asprilla got against us).

Andy Carroll performances remind me of that childrens story, the ''Emperors New Clothes''. The reality is he did fook all last night, much as he has done in the 11 months since he signed, and people praising his performance are IMO, seeing out of either optimism or hope, something that's not there

Great second half performance last night sealing a good win at home finally!
Bellamy did brilliantly last night and deserved he's two goals. Defensively, we were perfect again. Unlucky OG from Agger but nothing could have been done about that. Glad to see it didn't affect he's game either.
Skrtle made that one amazing off the line clearance, which if scored it could have been a game changer. Johnson and Enrique did good too, both were decent going forward and doing the defending they had to.

Once again, Carroll not syncing with the team, tho it was a mixture of poor crosses and bad movement from the Geordie.

Up until Gerrard came on we were far from convincing and the scoreline showed that. He brought a new life into the team, even Carroll was twice the player when Gerrard on the pitch and was unlucky not to score. Great goal for Stevie, deserved it and was delighted for him.

I look forward to seeing who Kenny drops for him and I really hope it's Adam tbh.

Any links to the goals/highlights from last night?

Great stuff from Stevie. Some amount of people on here writing him off since the summer.

Adam stats have gone seriously down since the moment Lucas went down injured .

Maybe those accusations about Charlie Adam limitations when David Vaughan wasnt also playing at Blackpool have some merit .

Well you've certainly changed your tune, Rarnes. I wouldn't be so surprised about Gerrard's performance if I was you. Afterall, he is by far our best player.....and no I haven't forgotten about Dani Pacheco!

Don't beat yourself up about Carroll. Eventually he will start knocking them in. We're stuck with him and you'll only drive yourself to drink by analysing his performances or by hoping we'll sign a big money striker in the window...because we both know there is no chance of this happening.

Anyone think it would be worth going all out for Tevez? City are obviously desperate to sell, it doesn't look like Milan are willing to buy, only loan. He's obviously going to act the goat at some stage, but if he did a job for 2 yrs and helped the club back into the CL he'd be well worth it

On loan until the summer, yes please.

On loan yes, permament squad fixture with his current attitude and ability to stir **** every season hell no .

That said i want Carroll to be given a extended run with Gerrard back , i think they linked well last and want to see how they play together more.

Also having a captain in midfield is a lot more useful than having a captain in goal , as id say Gerrard gave Andy a earful about tracking back too far from the goal , whereas Reina is too far away really to keep on top of him

It's ok. CP has forgotten who he argued with ages ago over Pacheco. About two or three months back he threw the Pacheco comment at me and still got the wrong guy. :D

I doubt City would let him go on loan in England, given they've turned down Milan already. I'd love to see him sign

It will end badly, he will moan and stir **** eventually. But the side lacks real quality, and is one of a few genuinely world class players within reach. If he was signed for roughly £25-30m, and got the goals over the next two years to get the club into the CL, just as he did with City, before throwing his toys out of the pram, he'd be worth it IMO. Even if it meant him leaving for fook all in two years

Look at his impact at City. All things considered, was he a good signing? Undoubtedly IMO
