Prob is def with the .nfo as you can see:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <episodedetails>
    <title>Larry David: Curb Your Enthusiasm</title>
    <runtime>3531</runtime>
    <aired>1999-12-01</aired>
    <rating>8.8</rating>
    <season>0</season>
    <episode>1</episode>

Deleted and re-scraped everything and it still pulls down the duration in seconds rather than minutes.

I must be doing something stupid, but need to run now so will have another go later.

Go to TV Show settings --> Scrapers - data, make sure it's set to thetvdb.com. After that I'm out of ideas

This could come in handy for anyone needing a Saorview Box, just buy a dongle for the Boxee and have access to TV stations direct from the Boxee

I can get all my TV stations inc saorview and freeview on boxee at the moment using DVBlink software but until the boxee interface is skinnable to stop it looking like cr ap It will never be my pvr solution of choice.

Thats not a Boxee Box, the PC version hasn't been updated in ages, it's a full year behind the Boxee Box and has a completely different GUI. Due an update soon though.

Hmm, the pics of the UI still look like a jumbled mess to me. I wish you could just disable all those recommendation and social networking side of things, basically have an XBMC or WMC skin for boxee.

oh, and you can use the DVBlink SW on a boxee box, you just need a windows PC to host the server part.

What you're looking for is XBMC, not Boxee. Boxee is XBMC with social integration, it's locked down and not customisable (although they promised it would be)

XBMC is skinnable and fully customisable to your own taste, something you'll probably never see in Boxee. I'll be moving to XBMC on a HTPC shortly (was using XBMC on an old Xbox before this) for the Android app that allows me scroll through my media with thumbnails on my phone.

New entry in the Boxee Blog announces the new features of 1.5. They also announce the end of PC/Mac/Ubuntu support, Boo!!!!
    http://blog.boxee.tv/2011/12/26/boxee-1-5-fall-software-update/

Bye Bye Boxee, I'm glad I'm moving on now they're killing support for the platforms they started on. Live TV will be a big failure without the ability to record.

I am actually considering getting a Boxee box for the viewing RTE/ TV3 player, possibly iPlayer if I can get a reasonably priced way of accessing it and also getting othe online programmes.

What are peoples opinions overall on it or am I better off going with another option?

I got one. Love it to bits.

Moved home for a few weeks between leases. My mother - honest to God - hid it in the boot of her car so I'd forget it when I moved out. Got her one for Christmas.

It's the shiz IF you don't want it to be customisable down to the bone. If you like to tinker and have a bit of spare time, then XBMC is your man. It's a bit like iPhone vs Android.

I'm a sucker for beautiful UIs, and I fell for Boxee in a big way.

    Thanks Banquo,
How is it for getting BBC iplayer also? If I get a proxy will it work and will I be able to interchange with RTE Player / TV3 Player?

BBC iPlayer: At the moment only the UK one is available, and it won't work without a VPN. Any of the ones I tried weren't great tbh, but the global one is coming very soon I hear. The UK one, though very slow over a VPN at the moment, is a very very nice app. Looking forward to the global one very much.

As for the RTE and TV3 players, there aren't specific apps for them at the moment, though the RTE one (only one I've tried) works very well through the browser at http://www.rte.ie/playerxl/ - I have it bookmarked.

Also, if you've an iPad or iPhone then you can use Airplay, which also works quite well.

For all other content, it's fantastic at scraping movies and tv shows, and then there's the navi-x app which has almost everything available for streaming (ethernet recommended).

ANy idea how long we'll have to wait for the UK and Ireland geo restrictions on the Netflix Boxee Box app to be lifted?

Laucnhed this morning for Ireland and UK... chances of it getting sorted soon? I'd like to think so but I'm not holding my breath.

Is it not up to Netflix to release the app? Have you asked on the forum

Edit, thread about it here you should keep an eye on

Based on my reading of that thread early yesterday (need to catchup) I would have thought the responsibility lies with Boxee, rather than Netflix.

The app is available for US customers, and was made available on almost every other platform yesterday (Apple TV, Xbox, PS3, WD Live). I get the feeling we could be in for a long wait.

I think it's more that the apps on those devices just happened to work. Version 1.5 of boxee is out soon, I'd expect if there's any fix or change needed for Netflix it would be included in this, it's already out for beta testing.

    Updated FAQ on Boxee forums:

Netflix is now available in the UK. When will it be available on the Boxee Box for UK customers?

Unfortunately there is no ETA as to when the Netflix app on the Boxee Box will be available in the UK.

This could be a deal breaker for lots of people who wouldn't have local content.
I really would have hoped that Boxee would be ahead of the curve on this stuff, although it increasingly looks negative. Might be time to start looking for the next solution if there's no sign of this stuff in the coming months.

    anyone tried beta 1.5 yet?

ive not got any usb key lying around to check it out, thought it might be a god time to iron out the bugs before it goes on general release

I've not got a Boxee anymore to try it on. I did try the desktop client, the gui is nice, some nice new changes, but nothing will get me to move back from XBMC now

It's up to Netflix, not Boxee, when their app becomes visible to UK and IRE customers.

Wonder if anyone has a solution to this. Just got a Boxee box a week ago and have transferred some of my films to the hard drive which is connected to the Boxee. I have each film in an individual folder and then I followed PogMoThoin instructions in his blog to use Ember to get movie covers and descriptions.

This all worked a treat but the movie poster only appears when I go into the folder with the movie. What I'm wondering is if there is a way for the movie art to show as you are scrolling down through the folders as there is a blank space to the right of the folders which looks like it is for the movie art.

Sounds like you are looking at them in the FILES menu rather than the MOVIE menu? Have you setup Boxee to scan your designated media folder, and has the scan completed?

Actually think I am going through the files menu to view them. Not at home but will give that a go tonight. Cheers!

    @ PógMoThóin,

You seem pretty knowledgeable in all things Boxee and XBMC derived.
I've been using Boxee for a while, and a Boxee Box since launch.

Recently scrapped Boxee on the PC and installed XBMC, other than the more obvious room for customisation, what am I missing?

Could you point me at any good articles/ must haves etc for a standard XBMC install. I would consider throwing it on a dedicated HTPC with some kind of PVR + freeview/ saorview integration down the line but I need to get a lot more into it and familiar with it before I invest.

For the moment, I have it installed on a Win & box, with monitor mirrored to a Samsung LCD, not my main tv.

You're not really missing anything Boxee has in XBMC. The social integration isn't all that great (for me) as being a household device, I don't my Twitter or Facebook posts on the sitting room TV, it'd probably be ok for a loner :D. The one feature of Boxee I do miss is the watch later queue, I've not found an XBMC addon that does similar. Lots of the apps (an more) are available as community made addons

There's a wealth of info and guides on the XBMC forum, I wouldn't know where to start: http://forum.xbmc.org/index.php
It really is a great community forum, everyone is willing to help no matter how basic the questions

Anyone tried using netflix on their boxee box via unblock-us? I tried last night but it seems to do an awful lot of buffering on any of the clips I tried making the whole thing unusable. Tried on the pc with unblock-us and it all worked fine so would seem to be just a boxee box issue?

How is your Boxee Box connected, I had it working perfect before

It's connected wirelessly but so is the pc. I'll give wired a go when I get a cable long enough :(
