Good riddance to Anne and her wishy washy smile and wishy washy vocal delivery. I always thought she was a poor newsreader. In fairness though, she comes across as more bubbly in real life

Yeah, bubbly is a trait we all look for when were being told how many died in a tsunami.

She wasn't bad looking in her day, would definitely have given her one back then.

You'll let it out when the time is right.

Can we have that kinda-hot weather girl from the six 1 instead now? :pac:

Suppose the odd time you come into AH you might find something interesting. This isn't one of them.

What if they resurrected Naked News and had her as chief newsreader. I'd watch that.

But News Knight with Sir Trevor McDonald was kinda milking it a bit.

I think she is defo still doable, a good looking woman.

I seen her years ago at RTE a sexy beaut to say the least.

Really? She looked a bit like that other Anne, the rather horsefaced Princess Royal.

Anne has aged very well, but she wasn't always particularly good looking.

I wonder if she's friends with Jean Byrne...

    Retire???
    People don't retire in RTE!
Just look at Gay Byrne & Mike Murphy.
Before you know it she'll have a spot on Lyric FM.

She's big into yokes; many's the time I've seen her around late drinking venues in D2 and 4 mashed off her face.

Touché - but if she evicts Marty Whelan in the morning there'll be a lot of people very, very happy, myself included.

Éamon Lawlor made a very successful transition from RTÉ News to Lyric FM years ago. No reason why Anne can't, as long as she doesn't waffle, keeps a mood to her music and only talks when passing information on to us.

She's got a good pension, a lump sum and a big fat millionaire boyfriend, so she'll never need to work again. Why bother?

    Dan McGrattan a millionaire?

    In Zimbabwean dollars, maybe?

Anne Doyle was a newsreader, just a newsreader. Why all the fuss? It's not as if she brought any insight to what she was reading ? Any questions she ever asked were scripted for her.

    Or... by her?

Has it ever struck you that Anne Doyle and the other newsreaders can actually be responsible for their own scripts, much in the same way that newsprint journalists are?

Also, I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss good diction. Anne Doyle's clarity was her greatest vocational asset.

And quite a bad newsreader she was. This is one doyle boil I'm glad to see is finally being lanced.
