This thread is nothing but a chance for the OP to post stupid generalised comments about the intelligence of the Irish people. Sad.

UserNameInUse I think Pconn062 is taking a dig at you there as he mentioned "OP"

well you could say you kidnapped somone to defraud the parents for money in which case that's extortion.

Just because "Defraud" and "Extortion" aren't exclusive that doesn't make them the same thing.

I must admit, I disagree with all laws except :

    No Murder
    No Rape
    No Stealing

that's the only Laws there should really be IMHO

and on seatbelts etc. is this not just darwins law of natural selection? if you are stupid enough to get in a car and not wear a seatbelt then i'm sorry but maybe life is to complex for you.

And did you not read the whole thread? What about the other people who can get killed while wearing their seatbelt, just because one person chose not to?

Closing the off licences at 10pm = good.

Illegal drugs, (particularly weed) = good.

    thats better

that's just tough luck really. Wrong place wrong time for the other driver or if you were in the same car as a passenger then it's your fault for getting into a car with someone else in the car who isn't wearing a seatbelt.

There's far too many humans on this planet at the mo anyway. Alot of us do need to be killed off to save Earth so why make a law about everything ?

Laws should be generalized into maybe the worst 10 or 20 crimes that one can commit, after that it should just be common sense & natural selection.

Laws were orignally put in place to protect & serve the people but now they are just used to control the masses these days and for nothing else IMO

Its sounds and seems daft, but ya never know.

Stiffler2, surely you don't really think arson isn't a crime?

Has anyone ever wondered how stupid we've become? What is the point of seatbelt laws? I'm sure everyone is aware that if they do not wear a seatbelt, they have a greater chance of being killed, right? But seatbelts only protect you....they have no bearing on the other guy you crash into. So why punish someone for not protecting themselves..??

Same with drugs. If someone goes and gets shitfaced stoned, of who's business is it what they are doing? The consequences of that is only hurting themselves. So why is it against the law? What other stupid laws can you think of that should be abolished?

Scraping you off the windscreen is an unpleasant task that has to be performed by persons who are almost invariably paid by the taxpayer. And traffic has to be diverted, and other people are late for work ...;);)

Same if you don't know how to handle drugs - and some eejits really can't - and you think you can fly and jump out of a window, where you might just land on someone like me, and the council will have the expense of cleaning up the pavement pizza ---

All we really need is one law to cover all this.

Not sure really. If nobody gets injured or killed then No, I suppose it shouldn't be a crime.

but at the same time I can certainly see your point and the insanity of mine but that's just how I feel about it.

Let me re-think it then and add the following :

    No Murder
No Damage to Property including : Burglary, Arson etc....
    No Rape
    No Stealing
basically anything that causes physical harm or costs money

I think that's it but could probably add more.
Fraud & extortion are okay in my book, again as long as nobody gets hurt (physically)

Whatever your opinion on drugs; how do you justify closing off licences at 10? I really haven't a notion what that one is supposed to acheive, other than to slightly annoy people.

1st thing to do is blow up that hill & start afresh

Really incredible stuff...you think other countries do this? Massive nanny state

Eh...yes they do. Its just that so many Irish people are so introverted( or have a sense of acute inferiority) they don't realise it.

We'd all be kicking ourselves if there were no laws to protect ourselves OP

Genius.....hills are far too complicated anyway, just like all those dumbass laws.....
thats why when the dutch legalised weed, they had to get rid of all the hills (citation needed).

I used to work for a guy a good few years ago now. But he used to drive a VW transporter van, the model where if you don't have your belt buckled up it makes this annoying ringing sound over and over until you do. Very irritating. Anyway, this guy used to drive country back roads as super fast speed. 90 100 miles an hour on some and he never wore a seat belt but tolerated this annoying sound. I asked him one day to belt up and his answer was ''Do you think I'm going to crash? I'm a better driver than that''. The most pig headed man I have ever met. I quit no too long after that....

If someone was off their box and they were driving they could hurt someone else :L

Drug laws are stupid. If I want to get high and I'm not hurting anyone, what harm. They dont stop people from using drugs. Most people dont take heroin because they might become addicted, not because its illegal.

Ahh but you see I'm not stupid enough to fall for that. Unfortunately there certainly are people out there that are that stupid and you know what. I think they deserve to loose they're money if they're that stupid.

Why make a law about everything ?
