i made a boo boo a few years ago and got SKY tv and i cant tape ITV now any of them....ie ITV2...ITV3...ITV4 and its very anhoying. luckily TV3 sometimes repeat their programmes so i can tape when its on there. had i know i couldnt tape the ITVs i wouldnt have wasted money on sky. my DVD recorder became obselete the minute i got connected too so i cant even save my favourite programmes to watch at a later date....TV is my life!!!

    Christmas Special.
Christmas 1919: Downton Abbey is hosting a lavish Christmas party, yet despite being the season of goodwill, tensions are rife and Bates's arrest has cast a shadow over the festivities. Will he be a condemned man or will he be found innocent in time to dance with his new wife at the annual servants' ball? Mary has to consider her future with Sir Richard Carlisle following a contretemps at the shooting party and Violet has concerns about Rosamund, whose new suitor - the dashing but raffish Lord Hepworth, is not all he seems.

I heard that there is no Royle Family Christmas special this year as they didn't get the script in in time?

    Anyone any more info?

    http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/tv/3915981/Royles-written-off-for-Christmas.html
THE popular Royle Family Christmas special has been axed — because creators Caroline Aherne and Craig Cash have failed to deliver the script in time.

The comedy is traditionally one of BBC1's highest rating Christmas Day programmes — winning 9.9 million viewers last year — and was already in the schedules for this year.

Stars such as Sue Johnson, who plays Barbara, had planned time out from their busy schedules to film it.

But disappointed bosses have had to hastily re-arrange plans after realising it would not be ready in time.

Caroline and Craig — who play Denise and Dave in the hit Manchester-based comedy — have now been told to concentrate on making sure there is a special NEXT Christmas.

An insider on the sitcom — which stars Ricky Tomlinson as Jim — said: "Bosses are really disappointed.

"Caroline and Craig had said they would deliver a new script for a Christmas special this year and it had already been scheduled.
"But they just haven't got it together in time.

"They are known for leaving things to the last minute, but on this occasion they ran out of time. The cast are gutted and viewers will be too.

"Bosses have spoken to them and said they should focus on getting a script together for next Christmas."

Beeb insiders say the hole would be filled with an original show — NOT a repeat. A BBC spokesman confirmed the show will not go ahead. He said: "We will all miss The Royle Family this Christmas but look forward all the more to their next outing on BBC1.

mikom - are you taking the piss or are things so bad at RTE that they've decided to rerun the 2008 Christmas schedule? :D
