i made a boo boo a few years ago and got SKY tv and i cant tape ITV now any of them....ie ITV2...ITV3...ITV4 and its very anhoying. luckily TV3 sometimes repeat their programmes so i can tape when its on there. had i know i couldnt tape the ITVs i wouldnt have wasted money on sky. my DVD recorder became obselete the minute i got connected too so i cant even save my favourite programmes to watch at a later date....TV is my life!!!

    Christmas Special.
Christmas 1919: Downton Abbey is hosting a lavish Christmas party, yet despite being the season of goodwill, tensions are rife and Bates's arrest has cast a shadow over the festivities. Will he be a condemned man or will he be found innocent in time to dance with his new wife at the annual servants' ball? Mary has to consider her future with Sir Richard Carlisle following a contretemps at the shooting party and Violet has concerns about Rosamund, whose new suitor - the dashing but raffish Lord Hepworth, is not all he seems.

I heard that there is no Royle Family Christmas special this year as they didn't get the script in in time?

    http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/tv/3915981/Royles-written-off-for-Christmas.html
THE popular Royle Family Christmas special has been axed — because creators Caroline Aherne and Craig Cash have failed to deliver the script in time.

The comedy is traditionally one of BBC1's highest rating Christmas Day programmes — winning 9.9 million viewers last year — and was already in the schedules for this year.

Stars such as Sue Johnson, who plays Barbara, had planned time out from their busy schedules to film it.

But disappointed bosses have had to hastily re-arrange plans after realising it would not be ready in time.

Caroline and Craig — who play Denise and Dave in the hit Manchester-based comedy — have now been told to concentrate on making sure there is a special NEXT Christmas.

An insider on the sitcom — which stars Ricky Tomlinson as Jim — said: "Bosses are really disappointed.

"Caroline and Craig had said they would deliver a new script for a Christmas special this year and it had already been scheduled.
"But they just haven't got it together in time.

"They are known for leaving things to the last minute, but on this occasion they ran out of time. The cast are gutted and viewers will be too.

"Bosses have spoken to them and said they should focus on getting a script together for next Christmas."

Beeb insiders say the hole would be filled with an original show — NOT a repeat. A BBC spokesman confirmed the show will not go ahead. He said: "We will all miss The Royle Family this Christmas but look forward all the more to their next outing on BBC1.

mikom - are you taking the piss or are things so bad at RTE that they've decided to rerun the 2008 Christmas schedule? :D

RTÉ Television - The Viewer's Choice This Christmas (Monday, 5 January 2009)
RTÉ was the main choice for Irish audiences this Christmas, with nine out of the top ten programmes on Christmas Day broadcast on RTÉ Television.

Killinaskully proved once again to be a huge hit with viewers as the top rating entertainment programme* across all Irish television channels this Christmas Day, attracting an average audience of 757,000 viewers (share 45%).

Soap favourites Eastenders and Fair City on RTÉ One proved to be the two most popular soaps on any television station available in Ireland. While 520,000 (39% share) tuned into to watch the one-hour Fair City's Christmas special featuring Shane McGowan.

Because we pay them a licence fee every year, and expect sum decent entertainment on our festive holidays.

No point saying much about TV3 seeing their press release mainly had the 3 finals of X Factor, X Factor US and i'm a celeb, Of which two of those finals have ended already.

3e is very bad this year - only specials of X Factor, I'm A Celeb and the usual Jeremy Kyle & Steve Wilkos Show during the week, and the same xmas episodes of their shows that they have done for the last 2 years.

It takes an average of what, 2-3 years for a cinema release to hit the small screens, right? Seems fair enough, but the list above is stuff from 2003-2005...let's hoping they show stuff from 2007/2008 and not just the usual HP, PoTC, but they probably will as they're ratings heavyweights (I presume so, anyway).

TV3's listings seem to be all over the place - Irish Great TV Moments was on last night instead of a film, Piers Morgan shows are differnt past midnight this week, a Vincent Browne special on Wednesday night, Tallafornia repeated on Friday midnight, got rid of britains got talent and popstar to operastar over the weekend and replaced it with Airline and 10 Years Younger and there's prob more i didn't see.

And these changes weren't in any of the weekly/fortnightly TV guides. How can TV3 release a 2 week schedule, and print in into the most successful time for RTE Guide and TV Now and then change most of the schedule, and no-one will know unless they look at the daily newspapers listings ????

yes rev is brilliant. love it. at last someone with taste....
just got my hands on the independent weekend guide tonight....
sherlock is on on new years day.... they've kept that quiet havent seen any trailors for that so far. great expectations will be good too. the bbc's period dramas are always excellent... and if your a fan of lewis, lawerence fox is in an itv 1 drama next tuesday...but itv dramas tend to be a teny tiny bit rubish most of the time unless they are police ones...which by the look of things this isnt... but illl chance it...
for those of you who like to get your value from paying your tv licence to rte, and therefore only watch rte....you can see all of the above in the early hours of the morning sometime towards the end of 2012....enjoy the wait!!!lol. seriously ....are there people out there who still only have rte...tv3...and 3e.....out of choice? or cause your too scabby to pay for ups/sky or whoever controls the tv outside dublin?.... god....
