 This is what I've been banging on about for years but nobody in officialdom has the sort of vision needed or probably the financial incentive to get off their arses and make a proper go of the railway. Every once in a while things seem to get going in this direction (Bray station - for a while) but soon slip back to the usual ah shure it'll do mentality. The railway needs to be put back into the heart of the community it serves but, as you say, IE are happier to dispense with staff, buildings, shelter etc.etc. the 'scorched earth' railway favoured by RUI and most recently tried out on the South Wexford line.
