    Not sure about the OP's information, but this is an issue I've heard time and time again.

    There is certainly a policy (whether intentional or reckless) of decimating an independent Middle Class, which has a stake invested in society and thus scrutinizes decisions from the government in manifest detail because the issues of taxation, wages, employment opportunities actually affect our lives.

    The only option is emigration for those who have a "get up and go" attitude, from the cutting of the ability to get a higher education, I know many who are penalised for trying to show initiative and pick themselves up from unemployment and welfare dependence.

    Because they don't contribute to society anymore due the collapse of the manufacturing and construction sectors. They should be paid a sterilisation allowance from the welfare!

    It is not the working class you need to worry about.
    You are working class unless one of the following applies to you:

    You have a trust fund that allows you to live the high life without working
    You are and Arab Prince
    You are a a member of the welfare class that wears pyjamas all day and allows other people's taxes subsidise your slothful existence


    If you say you are middle class - you are working class

    If you are part of the welfare class - you say you are working class.

    And I take exception to the term 'working class' since the people he refers to probably dont work at all and just expect the tax payer to foot the bill for everything; their dole, housing, kids, medical card etc

    it is not the price of contraceptives that causes the welfare class to have children at a young age, it is the incentive of free housing and increased welfare payments such as child benefits.

    Most of the posts against the OP (that I've read) were about his use of 'facts' including 'looking around a maternity ward' (which I seriously doubt he did: who goes in to a maternity ward to investigate how many 'working class' people are working there?)

    Another problem with his argument is his confusion over what exactly constitutes middle class and working class. Am I middle class because my parents were relatively well-off? I live on well below the average wage, so I guess I'm working class.

    And let's not forget that the working class (as in people working for less than the average industrial wage) pay a huge amount of taxes which pay our pensions. By preventing people like this from reproducing, you're going to end up with a seriously f*cked up country (more so than we have now).

    Fair point on the Godwin's Law, though. I figuratively facepalmed when I saw those comparisons.

    as for what constitutes middle/working class i dont really know tbh, what i think the OP means is the welfare class - those with no ambition to work and an aim to take as much free stuff from the state as they can get while contributing nothing in tax.
