Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Found an Old Orc who wanted a good death. Sure enough it was doled out.
    Made me feel good.

That reminds me, I hope Umbra is in the game..

Got about ten lessons off yer man Faendal in Riverwood. But then realised I was broke. So I got Lydia to kill him and looted the body. Raging I didn't help him with that letter. :(

So I've not put much time in and I'm only at level seven.

Wanted to get a bit more archery training, but had hit the maximum for that level, so decided to do a bit of hunting to get the small amount of experience I needed for the next level.

Left the town and was sneaking down the road when I saw what looked like a moose. Shot it with an arrow and scored a critical hit kill. Nice.

Off to loot the body when I hear what can only be described as the sound Godzilla makes when he comes out of the water.

    Dragon.

    Crap.

Find a hidden spot and take a few hidden pot shots with arrows. Do a bit of damage and the dragon flies a bit further away, lands and starts incinerating the place.

I catch up to it and get a few shots off and it takes off again. While I'm looking for it, I hear some groaning. Turn around and there's a giant running at me.

    Dragon and a giant.

    Double crap.

Run away and then the dragon lands, sets the giant on fire and the two of them start to fight. The dragon takes off again, so now I'm left with an angry giant who's on fire!

I run away some more until the dragon comes back to fight the giant again. The giant is getting the better of the exchange, so I hang back and plow it with arrows, but not before it kills the dragon.

I try to exploit a classic Bethesda glitch and get the giant stuck between a rock and me, but it manages to get around and one hit kills me.

    I hate this game.

I'll play it for hours again today after work though!

Came across both of these, both really cool i thought! And sad too!

Came across a ghost outside Dawnstar somewhere followed it and it led me to a place unmarked on the map where some bandits were raiding graves!Very nice i thought!

Started to turn into a Vampire and am having problems healing during the day, barely cleared out a fort when i went to give loot to my companion to hold.He quit my service and killed me...

Was slowly making my way to the guy who might be able to cure me when i encountered 2 bandits attacking a courier and his horse, they killed the courier but not after he killed one of them, the horse killed the other bandit then proceeded to attack me..Apparently i am hated and feared by all.

Got to the outskirts of the alleged cure guys town when i got attacked by a dragon and a troll, the troll killed the dragon so i looted then slowly made my way into the town.

Finally got into the cure guys house after being chased away by everyone in the town a couple of times, he attacked me too.

    Vampirism sucks. :(

Ah ok. I was wandering down south a bit from Morthal and saw a ghost horse and rider (headless rider) but I couldn't keep up with them due to lack of horse.

How far along are you? I think when you progress to the final stage you can turn invisible which would make getting in and out of cities to your home much easier.
I think when I go for my second play through I'm going to try to become a vampire as early as possible and see how far I can get through the whole game as one.

Killed a dragon that was raiding Dawnstar, and when it died everyone from the local peasants to the Jarl came out to gawk at the corpse. They wouldn't get too close to it though, there was a lot of muttering. One of the guards said "Is it really dead?" in a timid kind of voice.

This game never ceases to amaze me with how alive the NPCs seem.

Anyone else get when they exit the Dark Brotherhood there is always a random naked body, bent over on their back ?

I've had (seen) a few different people at this stage :P

I'm also very disappointed to hear about how tough it is being a vampire.
Being one in Oblivion was great, the first part (1/4) as you were given the Hunters sight (Night Eye+Detect Life) spell, which was excellent for dungeons etc.
People didn't really mind either at lvl1, and the loss of health in the sun was minimal so as not to matter.
There was never a need to go to lvl 2-4.

I might try vampirism near the end game though, I'd say with my 2nd char...but I can't see me doing a 2nd char as there is too much to do with 1 ,,,let alone have 2-3

Is it just me or has the patch made it worse? I had exactly one frame rate drop before the patch and that was the only annoying glitch I experienced that comes to mind. While I haven't had any other problems since the patch, all the random dragons have become retarded.

I literally can't fight them. They glitch halfway across the screen, fly through mountains, hover in the air without moving for ages but don't take damage and they've taken to the admittedly impressive feat of flying backwards. Not an isolated incident either, all three random dragons I've encountered since the patch have acted the same.

Saw a group of 4 bandits stalking 2 mammoths and a giant. it didn't end well for the bandits, i never saw where their bodies landed after they were used as baseballs...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,558 ✭✭✭✭dreamers75

Went to give Keeva the healing potion, she was sweeping on a boat as i approached, she started to slowly fly into the air and eventually went over a mountain in the distance (still sweeping) about 2 minutes later "FAILED: Give Keeva potion".

Fraps is F9 on my PC and found out the hard way DO NOT PRESS F9 in Skyrim :) So couldnt fraps it.

Had a funny thing happen last night. May be patch related but it concerns a quest to steal a horse that some of you may be aware of. I returned the horse to the bloke who asked me to steal it (you can convince him to let you keep the horse but I wasn't bothered). Then I followed him for a bit and a bear attacked. He got off the horse and ran while the horse did what all horses in Skyrim do and took care of the bear. I left it at that but later when returning to whiterun that bloke was standing outside the stables. Maybe he was meant to bring the horse there I don't know but he has no conversation dialog with you at that point.

So last night post patch I wander past again and this bloke has a doppelganger (same name under both of them and they are identical) both muttering "huh", "can I help you" in unison. Made me laugh anyway.

    *edit - not patch related

I found a skeleton under water who had a rope coming from his leg with the other end tied to a rock! :D

Took a shortcut through the plains around Whiterun as I returned to Dragonsreach and found a small lake. In the center of the lake, I could see a skeleton's arm sticking out of the water with an orcish sword in hand. The arm was sticking out of the dirt at the bottom of the lake and the rest of the skeleton appeared to be buried.

Nothing particularly exciting but I still thought it was an interesting find.

I was on my way tonight to attack a bandits' camp when I noticed that it was already under siege from a mammoth and a couple of giants. So I decided to sit back and let them do the donkey work for me. When all the bandits outside the camp were dead, the giants retreated and I decided to move in carefully and loot the bodies of the bandits.

The last body was quite close to the mammoth but I decided to risk it and soon realised that the mammoth had no interest in attacking me so decided to get a look at the creature. So I'm standing there admiring him when an arrow whips past my head and hits the creature. Thinking there were some bandits left I spin around to face them. My dying thought was "where the hell did Lydia come from?" as I never had the chance to defend myself from the mammoth's wrath.

A lot of random loot like that is levelled so as to keep it interesting for higher level characters and not give overpowered weapons to low levelled ones.

I lost Alvor and his wife to a frost dragon. :(

I was about to save it when I realised that the whole reason I was in Riverwood was to sell Alvor some of my loot - I'd already impoverished Whiterun's smiths. So I reloaded it and led the dragon to Bleak Falls. :pac:

I had just a killed a flame dragon or whatever on top of a mountain and looted it, ran up to the altar to get my new shout, only to have one of the dragon priests jump out of a coffin next to me and scare the bejesus out of me! No idea what it was at that stage but it just spammed me with fireballs as i tried to kill it with my bow, but failed. Naturally I ran behind the closest pillar and waited a min, keeping him out of my LoS.

Once I had enough hp and stamina again I decided to stick my head out and take a few shots at him......only to have the dragons dead body thrown at me D: Literally like across the mountaintop, a dead dragon just flung at my head! I was like "OMGWTFHAX!"! Thought I had accidently stumbled across some end-game boss or something :L Died that time but went back and killed him, it was Krosis so I got that bloody god-like helm! the +20% lockpicking, archery and alchemy helm! =3 Now with all my other archery stuff, I can 2 shot giants =3 Love how overpowered archery is :L And im still using a glass bow, havent gone daedra yet :L

I'm surprised that no one else has mentioned the Mad Wizard that captures you in a Cage from a trap near one of those words of power walls. I didn't post about it because I came across it while randomly exploring during day two or three of having the game, and haven't a clue which ruin it's in, but was pretty cool.

He tells you not to struggle and goes off to look in his shelves for something to inject you with.

Was up in some Orc stronghold beside a mine near Windhelm stealing everything that wasn't nailed down, after I filled my pockets with loot and ore as I was leaving through the front gate, I came across a scene of devastation; 2 goat corpses, a dead mammoth and a pin-cushioned sabre tooth cat and an Orc surveying the mess from a watchtower.

Trying to make sense of it, I reckon that the goats wandered out of the settlement (was I meant to close the gate?) and were attacked and killed by the sabre tooth but I can't fathom how the mammoth got involved, (the settlement is halfway up a mountain, surrounded by forest) or how a single Orc managed to defend the settlement from all manner of beasts. Either way I feel gutted on missing out on an epic fight that the surviving Orc will be able to regale over tankards of mead for years to come.

Those orcs usually have magician sentries as well as archers - they fire off very powerful strike spells

I was casually strolling around the lovely countryside south of Markarth when I happened across the strange sight of a trio of ehm.. Imperials just standing in a circle. Went to over to chat but when I got close it turned out to be three orcs in imperial armour. One came over to me and said:

"-Ehm, we are Imperial soldiers.. err.. ehm.. you are getting in the way of Imperial business. You must now pay a fine. Ehm.. Gold! 100 Gold! Now pay up!"

As he was talking I noticed three dead bodies stacked up behind them. The bodies just happened to be stripped of their armour. Smelling a rat I told them I would be having none of their request and I proceeded to dispose of the miscreants using a giant fireball.

This was completely random and not tied to any quest. I love this game :P

    I noticed that too.....
As I'm a noob, I paid them some coin as I didnt want any hassle from the Imperials.
However I then noticed the dead imperial troops so promptly killed the imposters and took my coin (and some more) back!

My randomness tale is of walking along and seeing a dead man & woman at a rocky outcrop.
I read her journal and it was a tale of two lovers who were never meant to be together so ran away to be together in the wild. T
hey stashed all their savings behind a tree stump.
They came across a bear and were killed.

So I killed the bear, took their cash then moved her body over to her lovers body. I positioned her head as close to his crotch as I could and then left them.

..... they would have wanted it that way! :D

Havent encountered any glitches or funny moments but bits that stand out to me for good and bad reasons:

I was strolling with Lyd along a river and heard a dragon. Experience teaches me to tell my NPC to "wait" when a dragon appears to avoid them dying. So i follow the dragon to where its mainly in action and its taking on a giant on a mount as well as some magicians (Or whatever you call them) at a ruin. So seeing the giant I figure to best leave them at it. The giant appears to have died and the magicians types are all dead too so i take on the dragon. Its a different colour than usual and takes quite a beating to kill. I manage it and loot the bodies. Big head on me.

After about 20 mins between fighting and looting, I head back to get Lydia. While walking my character suddenly switches to 3rd person view and is flung up in the air like a bungee rocket.

The giant wasnt dead at all.

Another moment that stands out is in the city you wake up in after getting drunk. While walking the streets some lad asks me if I will help him suss out some daedric worshippers he reckons are in an abandoned house. After the fun of the quest with the madman daedric who is on his holiers in someone's brain, I figure that more fun awaits.

So picture the scene. Its close to midnight in RL and im playing in the dark with gamer headphones on. I go into the house and its a lovely gaff. however as we reach the door at the rear, a demonic voice blares over the headphones about killing and doesnt stop talking until I agree to get some priest for him. It was creepy to say the least!

Yeah the Mace of Molag Bol. It's a cool quest. More than a bit creepy.

My random moment was seeing a makeshift shrine to talos and everyone around it killed
