My ags 101 was delivered today as well but I was in college doing a sociology exam so I got the note, 'I called and tried my darnest to deliver your package'. Called in to post office and he didn't leave it there and they couldn't contact him! So gave to drive back in again tomorrow.

Yeah was a decent price for the tv but the effort to get it was massive. Had to take it down 3 flights of the stairs that wouldn't if be out of place in a Tim Burton movie. And then had a bit of car tetris trying to fit it and the stand in the boot of the girlfriends mirca.

Couldn't use my megane the car was too small!

Burglars must of loved the invention of flatscreens.

    @Jack Burton
Ya that Shop has good lot of Stuff in there but I usually avoid it like the plague, Staff only care about money, stuff in there doesnt look to be best shape, but at least its there I support, like they Charging 50 60 e for boxed NES SNES N64 games, I come on who are they kidding.
They did have few boxed Sega Meagadrive and Commadores amigas and stuff.
Im heading to Dublin on 17th, might check out the RAGE.ie, looks like at least the proper gamers. Hopefully be good shop.

Rage just posted on Facebook that they have factory sealed Mega Drives...

Edit - Dammit I thought I posted this in the "retro links" thread... but you get the message anyway...

I'd love to know where they came from. Old factory sealed games are one thing, but consoles are more of an oddity.

At first I thought €80 was a tad expensive, but on reflection it's actually not bad at all.

These should be bought to keep as are though.

A lot of people will probably buy one thinking 'new Megadrive!! that's me sorted for 20 years!!' when really the components like capacitors and such deteriorate whether the console is used or not. In fact I think when it comes to USING old electronics, you're probably better off buying stuff which has been powered on a bit in its life.

Not a high definition graphics model, not worth it imo :P

Valid point! If I were to want a complete, factory sealed Megadrive, it's a HD Graphics model 1 or nothing :pac:

How much would a non-factory sealed boxed HD one be worth? Good condition and all that etc etc.

You can get them cheap as a normal MD if you wait around. A lot of people don't realise what they've got.

    Hmm, that's a tough question.

If you knew what it was, and the buyer knew what it was, and it's boxed, at a guess...maybe €80? Could be more. I'd definitely put it down as worth more than these factory sealed MD2s anyway. Collectors always rather an original model.

    That's the problem alright.

You could have an unboxed one for a tenner if you looked around. I know that's what I did anyway.

The fact that it's boxed with automatically add value though. A fully boxed Megadrive 1 (if the box is nice) will get you a few quid.

Yeah same reason I now have 3 HDG model 1's

On another note I got somthing I wanted for a while today. The spacer thing for hooking up a MD1 to a M-CD2

7 punts from england, not bad

I still have mine from when I bought it new along with around 80 discs. Lots of boxed sets too. Did you get any special discs? I'm still looking for the boxset of Jason & the Argonauts (PAL).

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,328 ✭✭✭Pyongyang

Yep. The guy who sold it turned out to be a really sound guy. An older gent who is in to his AV big time.

The player itself is absolutely pristine. He took me through each and every disc to show they worked, demoed the remote control and all the features. Every disc bar one was immaculate and even the one that wasn't was immaculate one side but suffered a crack the other. I got even more cash knocked off for that and it was a disc I didn't care for but can watch most of anyway!

The discs themselves are all in original cello wrap (mmm sniff sniff!) and in the mix was a good few Criteron editions and deluxe editions, plus NTSC discs!

Got it for a lot less than advertised on eBay too. Absolutely thrilled, I've always wanted a Laserdisc player!

I've made contact with the guy selling the Darius LD too so I'm hoping to buy that ASAP! I've also discovered a good few Taito and Namco discs and some quality anime and obscure movies to plan to purchase in the future. Loving this! :)

It's a Pioneer CLD-1750. PAL/NTSC and auto-flip. Even has dual SCART and optical audio out! :)

Definitely worth getting if you want to collect the stuff that is still only on laserdisc. Get one! :)

I'm going to see if I can hook it up to my video processor and upscale it to 1080p, see what happens. :)

Might be a good time to ask, what the best way to hook up multiple consoles to a TV. bear in mind its a LCD. I know not the optimum but should I be bothered with getting one of those upscalers and running a multiscart into it?

The reason I wasn't interested is I thought it was PAL. It plays NTSC too? Ye jammy man! Cant wait to see some photos.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,328 ✭✭✭Pyongyang

Completely depends on what you are doing and what you are connecting. You need the right processor for the job in some cases else you'll get tangled in a web of scan converters, line doubles and nail clippers.

Basically plan ahead, even make a Visio drawing if you need to.

Multi scart switch box always worked fine for me.

Just make sure it's all going into the RGB socket!

Yep. We tested the discs and one I saw was NTSC was Dusk Til Dawn. I looked up the original reviews at an old archive site. It's listed as a proper, solid player. :)

Yeah, just running through my consoles there, likes of the PS, Saturn, DC and GC would they be alright straight into a multiscart then into the TV? All with the best hookups I can get for them. Or better off putting them through an upscaler etc?

The MD, SNES and nes, whats the best way to sort them out?

Original Xbox is composite anyway so thats no problem
