It really is a gorgeous system. Although in buying it I ruined my christmas pressie as I found out my mam had already bought me a red one =/

You can't buy anything in the lead up to Christmas for fear of doing what you have done.

I've dropped massive hints for what I want.
'oh look I've bought a load of games for a ds and I don't have one.'

So should get some sort of a ds.

I'm now not sure if I should buy Mario Kart, just in case someone buys it for me for Jesus Day!
Ah sure Feck it! I'll hang onto the receipt and return it for something else if that happens.

Keep the Zelda one sealed then sell it in about 50 years, you can buy a corner of my Tri-force island & call it the pokezone

Just got Metal Slug advance and Bomberman Tournament for GBA.

Metal slug is one of my favorite games series but I couldn't enjoy the GBA version, it just felt off for some reason.

In the options menu of Metal Slug advance there's an option to turn auto fire on, makes the game sooo much easier to play.
I completed the game before even noticing this option felt a right tit.:P

I've only learned about this now! that might change things!

I learnt this lesson the hard way about 10 years ago, I now buy nothing frm october till xmas but drop lots of hints. not that it works usually of course.

A long shot but, does anyone think Metal Slug GBA will ever come out on the eshop or is the eshop only for Nintendo made games?

    The game credits too. :pac:

Hopefully I'll play it in 20 years or so and completely forget about that aspect. I can be my very own Easter Egg.

I just had a look on ebay for Ibara, bugger me, that's pricey! 150 notes at it's cheapest! For a PS2 game!
Espgaluda isn't so far behind either, Wow, you guys must really love shooters! Over and above eating, paying mortgage etc...

Ibara is total rip off on ebay alright, I got mine for a good bit less than that thankfully. The bare PCB is minimum €250 which is well out of my budget these days, tbh until I can afford a second cab (if ever) that I could dedicate to vertical shmups I doubt I'll be buying any of those PCBs.
Espgaluda only cost me £33 incl postage from AO which I thought was cheap enough, hadn't checked the ebay prices on that one.

Nice! Ebay prices too rich for me atm though. How does Dodonpachi play on the PS2? And nice cameo by the Namco btw. :D

@waveform: Just spotted your 1541 Ultimate II cart for the C64, that's an awesome piece of kit!

It's absolutely divine, I cried a little at the start of the game (before promptly dying). Then I weeped some more. I've been playing the backside off it all night for review on my blog. I can get to L2 boss on 1 credit at the moment.

Done some really flukey, but spectacular 'weavin' tonight too. Then got all excited and promptly died.

Death Label on this disc however is just ridiculous. It makes Doom mode on Ketsui : Death Label on the DS look like an episode of The Magic Roundabout.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,928 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

Not as bad as Ibara is it? I've only had a few goes of that but sweet jebus it's tough, almost bad enough to make me not want to go back to it. :pac: Need to try and invest some time with it I guess.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,328 ✭✭✭Pyongyang

Death Label is worse than Ibara by about eleventeensquillion times more.

The standard arcade mode though is beautiful. Probably the best 'Pachi I've played yet. The 'weavin' moments are truly exciting.

Ibara is awesome of course, but it needs LOTS of time investing in it. I'm getting better at it.... by better I mean by about 0.00000000000000000000001%. So worth it though but the scoring mechanics are still wrecking my head.

I love them all though, obviously. :D

    Hi Andrew!

That actually wasn't mine in the pics at all :o,
I just posted a picture of what it looks like, and how it connects.

I was afraid that by posting the piccy,
i'd give the impression I actually "got something new" rather than "I pre-ordered something"!

Could take another month or two before I get my hands on it,
as its all handled by just one Dutch guy in small batches.

When i say small the last batch was about 100, imagine having to test 100 carts in a row to make sure they work,
as well as assembling the case, and modifying each case slightly so it fits!

    Must be Fun!

On another c64 note, it's sounds almost as fun as testing 500+ SID chips in a row like this crazy guy from Australia.

Who managed to source, test and sell over 3000 unused SIDs,
still in their tubing since the days they were manufactured in the Commodore/MOS factories....

    2373956326_9497f7f8ed_o.jpg

He even built that board with the blue ZIF sockets, so he could test 4 chips at a time, to help speed up testing.

    352_SID_Stack.jpg

That would drive a man crazy, hence the crazy posts for each of his sales!

"WEN PEOPLES FIND OUT THEY WILL BE SELLING LIKE THOSE THINGS THAT SELL REEL FAST I FORGET WOT THEY ARE, SOME KIND OF PANCAKE BUT SOME PEOPLES THINK THEY ARE CREPES I DUNNO LIKE THEY ARE REELY GONNA SELL SO JUST HURRY TFU AND DON"T MISS OUT ON THE SALE OF THE SENCHARY!!!!"

I don't see the big fuss about Metal Arms, thought it was mediocre and stopped playing when a bug stopped me proceeding any further.
